Posted April 25, 200719 yr Arctic Monkeys take over singles chart 24 April 2007 - 11:25:46 Source: MW The Arctic Monkeys are on course to register 15 songs in the top 200 of the singles chart this week, thanks to tracks from the new album being made available to buy individually online. Early retail reports show that Brianstorm, the lead single from the band’s second album Favourite Worst Nightmare, is still nestling inside the top five, after reaching number two in the official chart on Sunday. However, just outside the top 40 are album tracks such as Fluorescent Adolescent and Teddy Picker. In total, there are nine tracks from the new album on course for a placing in the top 100, while older tracks like I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor on course for a top 200 placing. Not surprisingly, the album chart is dominated by the Arctic Monkeys, whose second album is selling almost 10 times that of the nearest challenger, which is Avril Lavigne with her third album The Best Damn Thing. The Arctic Monkeys look highly likely to register the biggest first week album sales of the year so far. However, it looks as though Beyonce & Shakira will hold on to their number one position in the single chart, with the closest challenge coming from Timbaland’s previous number one Give It To Me.
