Birmingham and Sunderland will play in the Premiership next term after Derby's defeat by Crystal Palace sealed the pair's promotion from the Championship.

The Rams started the day four points adrift of Sunderland and five behind leaders Birmingham and were unable to close the gap, with one match to play.

That means they must be content with a place in the play-offs.

Birmingham go to Luton and Sunderland to Preston on the final day of the season as they battle for the title. *

From the bbc sport page

*This information is incorect as Sunderland face a trip to luton Luton and Birmingham to 8th placed Preston, in a race for the title in which Sunderland need to win and hope Birmingham drop points to win the championship for the second possible consecutive time.

I can see us going top and winning the Championship again :D

I predict:

Preston 1 - 1 Birmingham or Preston 2 - 1 Birmingham

and

Luton 0 - 2 Sunderland

And let's see the goal that won us the game against Burnley on Friday

Carlos Edwards - signing of the season B)

Well Done to Roy Keane & the Mackems. :yahoo:

That and Leeds Utd getting relegated

Interesting to note two of "Fergie's fledglings" will be joining Steve Coppell & Mark Hughes in managing Premiership Clubs next season.

Leeds supporters shot themselves in the foot yesterday. Leeds were right in the middle of taking a corner when they invaded the pitch, and so they lost their momentum. They were never in a million years going to score in the last 30 seconds

I think the term "how the mighty have fallen" comes to mind ^_^

I think Derby have scuffed their chances of promotion now. I can't see them winning the play-offs tbh. I hope Stoke get promoted.

I hope its Wolves actually, but anyone but Derby would do. Their team's $h!t and their manager is a c**k ^_^

Shame Derbz didn't manage automatic promotion tbh. They were rather entertaining in the mid 90s when they were a respectable Premiership side. Can't see them winning the play-offs though. A team who were reliant on 1-0 wins for the majority of the season aren't really designed for play-offs.

Either way I'm happy to see Roy Keane back. Although I'm not quite sure how his untested skills will fare at the top level.

Birmingham? Pfft they're a throwaway team if ever I saw one. Utterly utterly boring.

congrats :cheer:

12pts for Boro next season :P

Yeah, just like the 3 they got at home against Tottenham on Saturday :D

Oh no, wait.. -_-

Neither of them will be easy to beat next season!

Keano has LINKS with big clubs which explains how he bought in ex legends like Dwight York and how he nearly scooped Iuliano. I'm pretty sure Fergie will loan him out some up-and-coming talent as well.

And Birmingham have the talent and funds to ease a 14-15th place finish next season at least. Providing they use their resources correctly o/c.

how about the top points earners at Old Trafford :P who got a point last week and should have had all three ^_^

If the rumours are to be believed Sunderland will have between £20-£30m to spend over the summer, but tbh I think thats a bit overblown.. itll more than likely be nearer the £15m mark, which is still enough to secure prem status if used wisely ^_^
congrats :cheer:

Heh heh - yeah, that's what they'll finish on!

Sunderland are my favourite English team, so yeah this was great news today!

Don't like Derby - I'd like to see Southampton win the playoffs now.

Fair game -_-

We're not going to be easy to beat though. Hope you stuff Brummy at home though

Thats what Quinny's making available, apparently.
