There's a juicy 'kiss and tell' in the News of the Screws this week about little Mark Owen. Lets just say I'd never have guessed he had such stamina.

TBH, I'd rather not have that visual

Robbie Williams is leaving the USA to return to Britain and live with his friend, it has been reported.

The singer has lived in Los Angeles for five years but will soon come back to shack up with pal Jonathan Wilkes and his family, according to the News of the World. They are said to be looking at moving to Chiswick in west London and are willing to spend up to £2.6 million.

"Robbie is coming home to be close to the people who love him," said a source. "He wants to have some fun with his friends and concentrate on getting rid of his demons.

"Some of the best days were back when he lived with Jonathan in their bachelor pad together. He's looking forward to a life of golf and football for a while and being with his mates and family."

there are now heaps of these articles about Rob moving back to the UK....still not sure if its true though

No offense, but why do we keep posting the same story over and over? Just because it's in more than one paper doesn't mean it's true.

He has a caravan now?

Carry on caravanning… just remember to take out cover

21 May 2007

With the bank holiday weekend fast approaching, many people will be busy making plans to get away for a short break.

As seen in the news over the past week caravanning is now officially back in fashion, led by home-grown celebrity caravanners, including supermodel Kate Moss, singer Robbie Williams and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

This celebrity-led trend is backed up by research, which shows that caravan holidays are now the most popular ‘paid for’ holiday choice in the UK. Caravanning is now not only cool, but also big business, with the industry currently worth £16 billion.

With this resurgence in popularity, and as many new caravanners look to try out caravanning for the first time, Co-operative Insurance (CIS) is warning holidaymakers to ensure they have cover in place, as new data released by CIS shows that the average cost of a caravan claim is £1,826. Theft is the most common claim, followed by damage caused by storms and impact.

Terra Firma Agrees to Buy EMI for 2.4 Billion Pounds (Update2)

By Aisha Phoenix

May 21 (Bloomberg) -- Terra Firma Capital Partners Ltd., the private-equity firm run by Guy Hands, agreed to buy EMI Group Plc for 2.4 billion pounds ($4.7 billion), gaining the record label for the Beatles and Coldplay.

Terra Firma offered 265 pence per share in cash for EMI, the London-based buyout firm said in a statement. Shares of London-based EMI rose to 271 pence, indicating some investors expect another bid for the world's third-largest music company.

Warner Music Group Corp., whose 2.1 billion-pound offer was rejected in March, may raise its bid for EMI and buyout firms including One Equity Partners LLC are also interested, the Sunday Times said yesterday. EMI, which ended talks with Permira Advisers LLP in December, today reported a 288.5 million-pound loss and a 13 percent revenue drop as music downloads failed to make up for piracy and falling CD sales.

``EMI is suffering from what all the majors have suffered from, the decline in physical sales of CDs,'' said Theresa Wise, a media analyst at Accenture in London. ``They have invested in digital music sales, but those aren't climbing as fast as traditional sales are falling,'' she said.

Music companies saw U.S. album sales fall 17 percent. Retailers sold 117.1 million albums in the three months ended April 1, researcher Nielsen SoundScan said last month.

Before today, shares of EMI had declined 6.4 percent this year to 248 pence.

``This is good news for EMI,'' said Alex DeGroote, an analyst at Panmure Gordon in London. ``It's an all cash offer, so it's a way out for shareholders,'' he said.

Terra Firma

Terra Firma plans to ``build on EMI's current position as one of the world's leading music companies and accelerate the development of its digital and online strategy,'' Hands said in a statement.

Hands, 47, built up Nomura Holdings Inc.'s buyout business in the 1990s before quitting to run his own firm with Nomura's backing in 2002. His other investments have included the German rest-stop chain Autobahn Tank & Rast GmbH.

Last month, he lost out to New York-based Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. in the 11.1 billion-pound takeover battle for Alliance Boots Plc, owner of the U.K.'s biggest drugstore chain.

Hands declined to comment when reached on his mobile phone today. Andrew Dowler, Hands's spokesman, didn't immediately return calls seeking comment.

Multiple Offers

``The EMI board received a number of proposals from several different parties,'' EMI Chairman John Gildersleeve said in the statement. ``Terra Firma's offer is the most attractive proposal received and delivers cash now, without regulatory uncertainty and with the minimum of operational risk to the company.''

EMI said May 4 that it had received several takeover approaches. Greenhill, Citi and Deutsche Bank are acting as joint financial advisers to EMI. Dresdner Kleinwort is acting as financial adviser and corporate broker to Terra Firma.

New York-based Warner Music offered 260 pence a share in March, a bid EMI said at the time was ``inadequate.'' The two companies abandoned $4.6 billion offers for each other in July on concern a combination would be blocked by European Union regulators. Warner had bid 320 pence a share for EMI in June.

The combined company would have a quarter of the global market, moving ahead of Sony BMG to rank second worldwide behind Vivendi SA's Universal Music Group.

Falling Sales

The company posted a net loss for the year ended March 31 of 288.5 million pounds, compared with a profit of 86.1 million pounds a year earlier, EMI said today in a statement. Sales fell to 1.81 billion pounds from 2.08 billion pounds the previous year.

EMI cut its revenue and profit forecasts twice this year. The company, which released albums by Robbie Williams and Norah Jones in the second half, reported an ``unprecedented level of market decline'' and ``an exceptionally high level of product returns'' when it cut its forecasts in February.

Slumping revenue previously has driven EMI Chief Executive Officer Eric Nicoli to seek a combination with Warner Music as a way to reduce costs.

Warner and EMI dropped efforts to merge in 2000 after regulators opposed the plan. EMI's attempt to buy Bertelsmann AG's BMG unit in 2001 was also stymied by regulators. EMI again failed to combine with Warner in 2003, when a group led by Bronfman won the bidding for Time Warner Inc.'s music unit.

Last July, Warner and EMI withdrew bids for each other after the European Court of First Instance in Luxembourg threw out EU regulators' approval of the merger that created Sony BMG Music Entertainment in 2004. The Sony BMG combination is still subject to EU approval.

dumb American question...is "caravanning" the same as "camping"? Like in an RV?
I think an RV is what we would call a caravanette. An actual caravan is much more uncool than an RV. :P

Robbie's caravan.

What?

It will be ideal for him. He can pitch it in Johnny's front garden when he comes to stay with him. A bit more privacy than the bed settee. ^_^

HONOUR: Richard Curtis

SCREENWRITER and Comic Relief founder Richard Curtis received the BAFTA Academy Fellowship last night.

Mr Curtis, who lived on Windmill Lane, Appleton, during the 1970s, was honoured with a five-minute citation by Stephen Fry and showbusiness luminaries, including Dawn French, Hugh Grant and Robbie Williams, at the glittering awards ceremony at the London Palladium last night.

His role as the founder of Comic Relief -- effectively the man who invented Red Nose Day -- and also for helping to raise £500 million for charity was also honoured.

Richard Curtis began as Rowan Atkinson's scriptwriter, worked on Not The Nine O'Clock News, was co-creator and co-writer of Blackadder, and penned the Vicar of Dibley, before having runaway success in the cinema with a string of hit romantic comedies, including Four Weddings And A Funeral, Notting Hill and Love, Actually.

He lived in Warrington when his father, a Unilever executive, was working locally.

Did you know Richard Curtis when he lived in Warrington? Let us know.

Robbie Williams recruits Dec as his babe pulling partner

From our ANI Correspondent

London, May 23: Robbie Williams seems to have found the perfect way out to recover from the pitiable state of his love life.

The 33-year-old singer, who has branded the Hollywood dating rules as "f***ing stupid", has recruited friend Declan Donnelly, one half of Geordie duo Ant and Dec, to be his partner in pulling babes.

"Robbie has lined me up to be his wingman. And I'm dreading it. It's horrible going on the pull with Rob - the girls always go straight to him and ignore me. I'll be lucky if I get any action at all!" the Mirror :puke2: quoted Dec, as stating at the Bafta after party at the Natural History Museum in London.

Meanwhile Williams is reportedly leaving Los Angeles to return to Britain to be with his best pal, Jonathan Wilkes.

The former Take That singer, who has been staying in the US for the past five years, will move into an apartment with Wilkes, his wife and their one-year -old son.

The 33-year-old is at the lowest point of his career  , for he finished his stint in rehab for prescription drug addiction and his latest album, Rudebox, was criticized by many as a poor attempt.
