The producers of this utter trash just disgust me more and more..... An abomination that gives the Horror genre a bad name.... Just like most of the "Video Nasties" that went before....

well seeing how Hostel wasnt really just a horror film, i guess for the second film the revenge movie aspect of the first will have been dropped completely to be replaced by Roth trying to out do Saw.

It's really sad when a potentially good film-maker (which Eli Roth was when he showed a bit of promise in the rather unusual, and quite clever "Cabin Fever") goes down this totally sleazy, tacky path just to get some "shock" value... I dont expect any better from the tw@ts who churn out those lousy remakes, but from Roth, I expected a bit better than this....

that's pretty much all this film is. take out those scenes and it's nothing.

the first one was good anywho.

Thought the first "Hostel" was utter c**p myself mate... Totally one-dimensional card-board characters that you just do NOT give a sh!t about (at least "Scream" actually revelled in its cliches and took the p!ss..), a lousy excuse for a "plot", very poor dialogue and acting and an incredibly nasty racist/xenophobic under-current to proceedings generally.... In short - not good.....

Brit film "Severance" has a similar idea, but is almost entirely the polar opposite to "Hostel" in every way - good, strong scripting, an interesting plot which actually has more than one layer to it, good characters that you do care about and well acted..... AND it manages to be funny in that "Shaun of the Dead" way..... In short - miles better than Yank cack like "Hostel"....

I saw a couple of pictures of this, one inparticular where this man was having his bits cut off. Ouch. :arrr:

I thought it was good, I hope there's a 3rd one. Which there probably will be.

yeah a Cabin Fever 2 would have been better. that actually was kinda funny as well

I thought this was alright, was near enough exactly the same concept of the 1st film though, apart from the fact the lead charcters are females instead of males. The one main problem I had with this though is they try to get a bit more of a story going together to begin with, but it just seems like they drop the idea of a story 2/3rds of the way through the film.

I wont be watchin Hostel 2

the first one was sooo rubbish.

I thought it was a good movie this, the scene where the nerdy girl gets it is quite distubing and really freaked me out and also when the man has his winky chopped off :puke2:

Plot was dire.... You could see the ending coming about two miles off tbh... As soon as it's established that the Beth character has this "big inheritance" you just know how it'll end.... Still having notorious Italian Horror Maestro Ruggero Deodato (the guy who made "Cannibal Holocaust" amongst other incredibly nasty horrors) play a cameo as a cannibal cutting chunks off of Miroslav was kind of amusing....

I think the worst thing about it though was with the two male torturers and how they originally portrayed them in seperate manners only to change them as people later on, like let's offer a bit of redemption to the guy who's portrayed as a complete dick and let's change him and vice-versa for the other guy. Just all seems a bit lame.

Yeah, I'd go along with that.. The character who was torturing Beth just changed for utterly no reason at all, I mean, come ON.... I can see maybe how the first guy might have changed from being a dick when the reality of what he did to Whitney hit him when he hit her with the buzzsaw and saw all the blood, I can kind of see that happening (just as a lot of "gung-ho" young men who go into the armed forces to "kill people" because they think it's like playing a video game suddenly go totally schiz when they're put into a real combat situation and cant handle it...), but the second guy's total about-face was just unrealistic and too much of a leap of logic...

I didnt like this film very much. It started off following on from the last film but later in the film the storyline seemed to get really stupid and went completely over the top. I didnt like the scene at all when the girl who was hung up side down and was tortured by this woman lying in a bath. As blood fell from the girl's body, the woman was getting off on it. I thought that part was completely sick.

I get what you mean, at best it was like some half-arsed attempt at a hommage to Hammer Horror films (and I'm being polite and generous here..), particularly the film "Countess Dracula" which starred Ingrid Pitt, which itself was based upon the real-life historical figure Countess Elizabeth Bathory who really did bathe in the blood of virgins... At worst this was almost totally without any kind of context other than the film-makers' own warped, perverted, juvenile desires to have a "naked chick" being sliced apart and another "naked chick" bathing in her blood... It is a ludicrous sequence, the torture in the first film was at least relatively "straight" torture.. Oh, but of course, THEN it was mainly the male characters being tortured and there were very few sexual over-tones to to the torture, this time round, it's GIRLS being tortured, so that just brings in a whole excuse to overtly sexualise the violence to the extreme... One girl hacked to pieces for the sexual gratification of another woman, another girl tied to a chair in a corset, high-heels, fishnets and perfectly made up, another girl acting as a surrogate for another psycho's wife who has to suffer the further indignity of being raped as well..... What a sick, mysoginistic piece of sh"t this film is..... <_<

About the only bit I liked was the cameo from "Cannibal Holocaust" director Ruggero Deodato playing a cannibal who was chowing down on one of the stereotyped "Eastern Europeans", and that would only be of any amusement to those few of us total Horror geeks who actually got the joke....

yeah man totally, and the ending like it would have been funny if David Gray hadnt beaten them to it

however saying that Vera Jordanova was a bit Petra Nemcova-ish so hopefully Hostel 3 will include the most terrible torture ever imagined: Death by James Blunt

so meh i wished i had gone to see shrek 3 again

Unimpressed.... it's even worse than part 1.... which was a racist, homophobic mess.

I love how the male characters think everything bad is 'gay'... then in Part 2... we get a hideously gratuitous quasi-lesbian scene.

Totally dire. I suggest anyone who likes this kind of movie sees a decent take on the genre.... Brit movie Wilderness is surprisingly good, well acted, scripted.... and full of twists and turns. MUCH better than this dreadful c**p. Tarantino should be thoroughly mortified.... he's over as far as I'm concerned.

I would say that "Severance" is more of an "alternative Hostel" myself... But yeah, otherwise you're making pretty spot on comments. People on the IMDb justifing this sort of Lowest Common Denominator film-making just make me want to vomit frankly... They use such pathetic justifications such as "Oh, but Horror's meant to be a dumb genre".... What utter garbage... Clearly those idiots saying that never saw a George Romero, Dario Argento or David Cronenberg film in their miserable, pathetic lives..... <_< I look at at the mainstream J-Horror, Thai or Korean Horror films (and, yes, these films ARE mainstream by those culture's standards, subtitles does not automatically equate to "art house") then I look at mainstream Hollywood Horror films, and frankly it's plain fukkin' embarrassing just how bad the likes of Hideo Nakata, Miike Takashi, the Pang Brothers and Takashi Shimizu (note to Tigerboy - I'm obviously talking about films they make in their native countries mate.... ;) ) make characters like Eli Roth look..... I went to see a fantastic Thai horror film called "Shutter" on the same day as I saw "Hostel 2", the contrast between the two films just could not have been more stark, one was a minor Horror masterpiece, the other was an utter shambles.....

Asian Horror RULES simply because it's actually bloody SCARY and throws up some seriously disturbing themes, not to mention they concentrate far more on the psychological rather than just throw buckets of fake blood and pigs entrails around..... Even Shimizu's "Grudge" remakes (well, I suppose "re-translations" would be a better phrase, the US/Japan "remake" of "Grudge 2" bears absolutely no resemblance to the original Japanese "Ju On 2", it's a totally different film, therefore hardly qualifies as a remake, which is probably why I liked it more...) are better than just about everything else Horror-wise that's being made by American directors (the likes of Rob Zombie excepted)... I watched Shimizu's most recent Japanese film "Reincarnation" (Rinne) the other night, CHRIST, the final 20 minutes of that film will just freeze your blood......

Takashi's masterpiece, "Audition" is a film that everyone who claims to be a "horror fan" should watch, you want to see what real "Horror" is folks.... Watch that one on your own, in the dark, late at night.... The stuff of fukkin' nightmares..... Mind you, you have to be a bit older than 14 (mentally as opposed to physically..) to really get it I suppose.....
