May 2, 200718 yr LOL omg and it is true about her hairy pits  On the album cover, she's lifting up her arms and you can see her hairy pits! The NME must have tens of pics of Beth Ditto, so i'm guessing they've chosen that pic to cause a stir, which it seems to have done so far.
May 2, 200718 yr uurrggghhhh shes is so fat. they shouldnt allow those kindof pics in public. its not right, good nor healthy to be overweight, what is wrong with people these days??
May 2, 200718 yr she is so repulsive, why would anyone want to be that fat?? and would anyone buy her records??
May 2, 200718 yr She's making a point I think. That you don't have to be thin and be a stereotype to be famous. I think she takes it too far, I mean it's not at all attractive and she's basically saying that she's content with her body when to be honest god knows how un-healthy she is. She's the lead singer from the Gossip.
May 2, 200718 yr It's disgusting! Is it anymore disgusting than the endless pics in the media of "size 0" models and celebs though...? I dont think so, I find that repulsive.... she's making a point here I reckon... Okay, it may not be particularly attractive, but the point has to be made I feel and good on her for making it...
May 2, 200718 yr I don't see the fuss tbh. Yes she's fat and it shows but that's the way she is, should she keep it covered just to avoid upsetting people at having to see a semi-naked fat woman? That's what she looks like and its only as "bad" if not better than size zero models who advertise to us all the time... Also in regards to why anyone would buy her records; I do, I don't judge someone on their weight as to why I'd like their music, rather I listen to the music and if its quality then I buy it. Also she's BEYOND awesome live :D
May 2, 200718 yr she is so repulsive, why would anyone want to be that fat?? and would anyone buy her records?? Gee, erm, dont you think the music should actually be more important than the image then.....? -_- Personally, I tend to judge a band on the tunes mate, dunno about you....
May 3, 200718 yr Gee, erm, dont you think the music should actually be more important than the image then.....? -_- Personally, I tend to judge a band on the tunes mate, dunno about you.... He likes El Presidente, he clearly doesn't judge bands on their tunes. Also, NME.com are the villains here. Beth didn't ask for that photo to be taken or for it to be plastered on the NME website. The likes of Heat magazine have made her a cause celebre recently as part of their 'stars with curves' features geared to making 'normal' women feel 'normal'. Now the NME is doing it - final nail in their coffin I'd say. Regarding The Gossip though, I'm bitterly disappointed that they're re-releasing 'Listen Up'.
May 3, 200718 yr Did NME.com HAVE to put this picture of Beth Ditto on their front page http://www.nme.com/images/07316_95404_gossipsxsw2007_1L160307.jpg :manson: well it was inside the nme the other week on the news pages with Johnny Borrell topless on the other sde as a comparison (not shown below  ) it was about sxsw. http://images.allmoviephoto.com/2001_Get_Over_It/kirsten_dunst_mila_kunis_get_over_it_001.jpg She's making a point I think. That you don't have to be thin and be a stereotype to be famous. I think she takes it too far, I mean it's not at all attractive and she's basically saying that she's content with her body when to be honest god knows how un-healthy she is. She's the lead singer from the Gossip. and also the Guardian's new Agony Aunt: What would Beth Ditto do? Friday April 27, 2007 - The Guardian 1. Question of the day: How do I come out to my colleagues? The truth is, there are so many pressures on the outside that push us to stay in the closet, and so many pressures on the inside that push us to come out. The closet can be a safe, comfortable place, and, at the same time, lonely and miserable. Eventually the inside starts to look like a Rubik's Cube - only you know the right pattern that will match up all the colours. Think of all the people you work with. Who do you think would handle the news best? Is there someone you talk to more than others? Is there any watercooler conversationalist you are particularly fond of? If there is, then start with them. There is no rule in the pink-triangle guide to coming out that you must wear a rainbow flag cap and organise a full band parade. These are my no-fail steps to coming out: 1) Make the decision. Tell yourself that you will come out. This means becoming comfortable with the thought of your co-workers knowing about your sexuality. Be prepared for any reaction, including the good ones (when my mom hugged me, and said, "Six, one, half a dozen, the other" - Arkansas speak for "It's all the same to me"), the awkward (the time my aunt asked me, "How y'all do it?" in the middle of thanksgiving dinner), and the ugly ("I feel so sorry for all my gay friends who are going to hell," which was said to my best friend by a mutual friend). 2) Pick that one person you like the most at work - that one person who always asks you to go for a smoke or to get a coffee with them at breaktime. Use your instincts. Getting the cat out of the bag is the hardest part and once you've overcome the initial fear of getting it through your teeth, it will get easier and easier. 3) Don't get too down on yourself for having told lies about your sexuality. If you find yourself having to untell some of those lies, just know that, even if it doesn't make sense to others, it was all you could do to feel safe at the time. That being said, now is a good time to learn how to tell the truth. Like I say, start small. 4) Don't be discouraged by any close-minded reactions. My mother has the best advice of all in these situations. It goes like this: they can't kill you and eat you, no matter what, and, if they do, you're probably not the one people need to be worried about . . . What would you rather be, a cannibal or a lesbian? A lesbian? Yeah, that's what I thought! · Whether it's "How can I break up with my lover, but keep them as a friend?", "How can I become a great rock star when I have zero rhythm?" or "How can I throw the world's greatest party ever?", Beth would love to answer your one-line questions or dilemmas in her fortnightly column. Please email them to beth.ditto@guardian.co.uk
May 3, 200718 yr and would anyone buy her records?? and how many top ten records has el presidente had in the UK Top 40? the guinness book of hit singles says the highest was Without You in Aug 2005 that got to number 30 on the charts for a couple of weeks, you all know the gossips chart stats for the last record dont you? Gee, erm, dont you think the music should actually be more important than the image then.....? -_- it should but in a lot of cases how do you get to hear those tunes in the first place, by promotion pushing the new thing the new look new the trendthe next big thing onto radio, tv and the mejjja. the actual music only makes up a percentage of the interst. so these bands were they actually alright? they had top ten hits but always get slagged off and used as a beware of the hype kinda thing. http://d.hatena.ne.jp/images/keyword/70108.gif http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/drc200/c243/c243485oto9.jpg http://www.tunefilter.com/1999/leisure_noise.jpg http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/drc200/c243/c243485oto9.jpg and why id it that loads of hit singles are written by failed pop stars. shouldnt all these failed pop stars have the level of success that like Elton or U2 have if there songs are so good??? http://www.korg.co.uk/images/news/sduffy_robbie.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2b/Hangingaround.jpg http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000006YFD.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg Personally, I tend to judge a band on the tunes mate, dunno about you.... well i try to also Regarding The Gossip though, I'm bitterly disappointed that they're re-releasing 'Listen Up'. obv record comps thought it should get a wider reach
May 3, 200718 yr obv record comps thought it should get a wider reach Well, duh. I'm just sick of it - there are plenty copies from the first release still around. Oh, and poor Menswe@r - you've put them on 3 times and Gay Dad only once. As it goes Menswe@r had 1 good album, but 'We Love You' (their biggest hit amazingly) was so gut-wrenchingly bad, photo-fit, post-britpop, kick-horns-hiring $h!te that their indie drum n bass follow up did not get released.
May 3, 200718 yr yeah, i obviously listen to the song but i think the bands image is also important in the whole "Package" im not gonna by some some by a scruffy old tramp am i???
May 3, 200718 yr im not gonna by some some by a scruffy old tramp am i??? Define "scruffy" though..... To a certain generation in the 60s, The Beatles were "scruffy, long-haired louts"...... Take it you've never listened to any records by Nirvana or Dinosaur Jr then.....
