I know that FA has been confirmed (ish) as been the 2nd single in the UK, but on the Offical Monkeys forum there's a few rumours that FA, WON'T be the 2nd single in the US, some people seem to think This House Is A Circus is going to be single #2 over there...

Personally I think releasing This House Is A Circus would be a far better choice for the US. As much as FA is a great and catchy song, it's all very British and I don't think it would appeal that much to the US, where as This House Is A Circus would be very suited over there I reckon. ^_^

Thoughts then? :o

US market is about promotion.every song could do well with the right promotion...
btw, all the reviews in american magazines & sites about FA were really great.

It is about promotion, and you need to promote your track well, or have it used in a TV program..

I'm not sure whether it would do that well over in the US, it has the potential, but whether it would live up to it, i'm not so sure. I think This House Is A Circus would be a great choice though for the US. :D I wouldn't like it released over in the UK though. The bleeding for the swear words would ruin the track for me...but I think the video would be BRILLIANT.

I hope they promote whatever single they release properly. The album has already done great in the US this week, when it debuted at No.7... if they can have a hit song, the album will hang onto the charts and have consistent sales.

I hope they'll promote it a bit in the US, I mean it would be nice if it did okay over there, but well I don't hold too much hope to be honest. :( I think they'll be more up to promoting over in the UK, but I dunno how much of that they'll do at all.

I think FA is the most commercial song they have ever done, so it could be a big hit in the USA.

The more I think about it, the more I think FA is gonna be huge, and I do actually think it has the potential to be huge in the US as well now. I just much prefer the live version of FA, to the studio version. Sounds much better live than on a CD. Saying that though, the only tracks I wouldn't release as singles off Favourite Worst Nightmare are, The Only One Who Knows, Balaclava and If You Were There, Beware.

I actually think the opposite I think FA would do brilliantly in the USA.. do Americans know what 'bezerk' means refering to This House Is A Cirus?

No idea. I think some might, but not all.

I don't know why, but for some reason I think, This House Is A Circus and Old Yellow Bricks would bo brilliant in the US. Not too sure why, but they just seem to be the right sort of tracks to make it over there.

Well I'm not sure about the American market but over here I think the third and fourth singles will be Teddy Picker and 505 personally and I'm usually very good at picking singles from albums

they'd be making a HUGE mistake if FA isnt released as 2nd single, but id love '505', 'Teddy Picker' or 'Old Yellow Bricks' to be singles at some point maybe,

1 - Brianstorm

2 - Flourescent Adolescent

3 - 505

4 - Teddy Picker

Got Xmas single written all over it. Not that they would ever be so crass as to release a Xmas single...would they?

PS 505 would probably be the 'break out' track for them IMHO. It's like nothing they have done before and would attract a whole new army of fans. IMHO.

That could work as an Xmas single, but I think it's the only time it could be released. It isn't one of my favouriute tracks off the album and I think they'd be wasting the oppotunity to release something that's more single worthy.

505 has got to be a single me thinks. Like you say it could reach out to a whole new audience for them, but I think that would be more suited to an Xmas release, as I see it as the type of track that could boost album sales a heck of a lot.

Personally i'd release these tracks:

1. Brianstorm

2. FA

3. D Is For Dangerous

4. 505

I'd like to see The Bad Thing being released as a single but i'm not sure that would work too well tbh.

"Berzerk" is an international word is it not?

"Slag" and "Mecca Dauber" from FA on the other hand... ;)
