Nice of them to leave their 2 remaining kids to swan off on a jolly to see the pope :manson:

Oh dont worry, theyre only at the Pope's place, its pretty much the same as popping into your back garden for a BBQ and leaving the kids in the house  :P

Love the sarcasm mate... But your point is very valid though...

Christ, I really am just getting thoroughly sick to my stomach of these two c/unts, it's really getting too much now.... It;s like they're being rewarded for being incredibly bad parents.... Yeah, I'd love to see all this outpouring of sympathy and a Papal visit for some teenage single mum who left her kids alone in the house while she went out for a night on the town - which is pretty much what THEY did.... <_< <_<

Didn't they once say that they would "never leave Portugal until Maddie was found" at one point...? Sorta went out the window pretty quickly that one did.... Now, they're off jetting around Europe, having a glass of vino with the Pope... Nice work if you can get it... Presumably making full use of the 2 million Euro "fighting fund" to pay for all their "expenses"...... These people make me bloody sick.....

Like that'll accomplish anything.... -_-

 Exactly. Its all a big load of pompous crud.

I've never met a Catholic I've liked... and these 2 are proving to be no exception....

how many prayers have been said for her safe return? now even 'gods' reprisentitive on earth is having a go...

so when her body is discovered, or shes found in captivity being abused, just what does THAT tell you about 'god'? .... cos sure as eggs is eggs there will be no happy ending to this sorry saga... pity, i feel sorrow for the poor kid.

What about Lapsed Catholics....  In my case, VERY lapsed, to the point of despising everything that hypocritical piece of sh"t religion stands for....

I'm actually VERY lapsed too, stopped going at the rebellious age of 14, much to my parents' annoyance. We got married in a Catholic church though and have been going fortnightly over the past year to get my 11 year old daughter in to the Catholic senior school in September. Yes I know, ulterior motive (waits to be told off!) Now she's in can't see me going much though.

I would NEVER subject my kids to a Catholic education, or any religious-based education, dont care how supposedly 'good' the school is, there are always alternatives, always other good schools out there (and I am of the belief that local kids should go to their local schools regardless, and they should damn well WALK there as well... I dont believe in Parental Choice, because frankly, I dont think it actually really exists anyway, there have been a lot of these "lottery"-type things going on, so, really, where is the choice..?). It is a bit hypocritical of you as well mate :P , you either follow it or you dont and if you dont, then you shouldn't pretend...

i think the parents have gone about this in the wrong way its become too saturated in the media, they are certainly media savvy and know how to create attention and thats what they did by visiting the pope but what does the pope have to do with the abduction? it won't help find the girl.

the family haven't thought this through properly. too much exposure of this case is going to harm their child cause whoever has abducted her will not let her outside in fear that she may be recognised and she may become a liability which could mean a really tragic outcome. if they were smart they would let the story should die down and quickly so whoever has got her can think its over and let the child outside in a few weeks or months and we hope that someone from the public will spot her

Spain and Portugal are catholic countries though Perfecto so maybe the pope would have some influence or whoever took her might have gone to confession and told a priest that he took the girl or something so I suppose it is worth a go as the pope has huge influence among catholics and if they are a national of Spain or Portugal then the abductor is likely to be a catholic

good point

but if you are right and the person goes to confession - will the priest break his vows to tell??

Sadly I doubt it :(

maybe but the kind of person that abducts a child can't be religious, to do something as awful as that shows they have no morality

That's pretty meaningless mate.. The Pope is NEVER gonna order a Priest to break the sanctity of confession for any reason.... And considering the amount of covering up for p**** Priests that goes on, well the life of one child is, ultimately, pretty much meaningless to the Catholic Church..... <_< They'll always choose their dogma over the actual welfare of an innocent... <_<

Unfortunately I agree with you - only the conscience of the priest could make them talk - but that happens rarely.

...they advise to confessor to give themselves up but very rarely break their vows.

Disagree mate

Look at suicide bombers for instance, they are fanatics of Islam and the koran and their faith does not stop them from committing vile deeds, Bush's christian faith does not prick his conscience when he sent the B52's in over Baghdad, the prophet of Islam Mohammed married a 9 year old girl called Aysha, someone marrying a 9 year old girl today or even being involved with a 9 year old girl would be praying from a prison cell not a mosque but muslims are prepared to worship this man, I just don't think there is a connection between morality and religion

they are not true muslims or followers of islam, they are extremists, killing innocent people isn't allowed in their religion these suicide bombers/terrorists are using their religion to suit their motives, what they are doing is politically motivated. someone that does extreme actions like killing and abducting doesn't really truly follow their faith.

Sad but true Scott

Would have hoped with the death of the evil Pope John Paul II that attitudes at the very top of the catholic church would get more in fitting with the 21st century but Benedict seems a chip off the old block, when Benedict dies just hope the next pope is a young modern thinking modernising progressive pope that will drag the church into the real world
