Anyone still think she'll be found safe and well then?

Frankly, I rather doubt it Chris.... :( The odds are totally against it now... It took them ages to find the bodies of Susan Maxwell and Caroline Hogg (infamous Scottish cases of child murder in the 80s, Google them if you can really stomach the sickening facts of the cases.... <_< )

Unless it's gonna be another one of these rare cases like what happened not so long ago with a young German girl who was found after escaping from her captor after 15 years of systematic abuse....

Well now they're thinking she was abducted for a ransom and one may have been demanded but not made public. Could be revenge for a professional mistake Gerry made. Just another theory maybe but interesting. I'd be very surprised if there's a happy ending though. :(

sadly no :(

Perfecto, I do agree with you, but, let's face facts though, if this had been some single mum on a Chav estate, first off, she'd have the social services around to take the other kids into care, and then quite probably find herself on the receiving end of a Child Neglect charge.... It seems that if you're a well-to-do middle-class Doctor, then your parenting skills cannot be called into question in some peoples' eyes.... <_<

These people jet off around Europe doing their "fact finding" tours or whatever, having tea and biscuits with the Pope in the Vatican.... And, erm, what about their other kids....? Sorry, but there is something seriously wrong with these two....

i agree the media should be talking about their naivity the mistake of leaving the kids alone but the media will gloss over that, the media likes this story cause the family are using the media so much in order to find her. this kind of story can hook the public because of its emotional pull. the media don't want to break this emotion by saying anything negative about the parents

the parents are learning a lesson from this but what a harsh lesson!! its too harsh

im afraid lifes like that.... one chance, one mistake, can be very costly and theres no turning back the clock, no second chance and no divine intervention.
There's now talk of a planned "Madeleine Day" with big pop concert later in the year. How do they know she won't be found by then, dead or alive?

That is disgusting, if it was a day to remember ALL missing kids then thats great but $h!t like this sends a message out to every other missing kid's parents that their kids are lesser important and somehow lesser beings than Madeleine

Spot on mate... This whole thing was entirely preventable in my eyes by the parents of Maddie actually having the common sense to USE THE SODDING ON-SITE BABYSITTERS..... Jeez, is it really rocket science here....? You dont leave your kids alone in a hotel room in a foreign country for 30 seconds, let alone for an hour or so..... Like, DUUUUUUHHHHHH.....

Give me strength.... This really is getting a bit bloody ridiculous tbh.... <_< No doubt we'll be "treated" to the sight of Eric Clapped-out singing his tacky, maudlin, saccharine-sentimentalist song about his dead kid..... :puke2: Vomit bags at the ready for this one folks..... <_<

oh god.... i saw a shrine to her by the roadside yesterday... yellow ribbons, flowers, placards... IN FCUKIN DERBY! and the parents are on crimewatch tonight... ffs...

I agree - her Parents should never have been out that night

- no matter how 'close' the Restaurant was to their apartment.

Apparently they had been going out for several nights -

not just the one when the little girl was abducted. And they were there

with a large Group of other Adults - and not one of them thought that

they should skip the meal - on any night - to Baby Sit! I call that DUMB!

However, anyone who criticises the girl's Parents, is not allowed

to do it. I read many UK 'Papers, & several Columnists, (Males & Females),

say that people who criticise the Parents, are selfish, callous, cruel, & so on.

A guy in 'The Sun' agrees with what some of the girls relatives

have said - that her Parents did nothing wrong, & it was no more

an unsafe thing to do, than if Parents sit in their 'Large' Garden, while

their kids are in bed, in the House!

Sorry! I really do not agree with that! It is one thing to

sit in your own Garden, & to leave the Kids in bed, & quite

another to sit eating out, & to only go back, to check on the

kids, every half an hour or so!

But, anyone who dares to say this is being called,

'mean spirited' & 'holier than thou', by several News Paper Columnists.

So, the little girl's Parents are Doctors. How would the UK Press

be reacting if a Single Mum - on a Council Estate, wandered off to

a nearby Cafe, or Pub, & left her kids in bed, only for one of them

to be abducted?

I doubt very much if they would be defending such a Mother!

It all stinks of hypocrisy - her Parents are being treated

as if they have done no wrong, by the Press, because they are both Doctors.

That is the truth of it.

Then we have the 'Band Wagon' effect. I hear that as much as 2.5 Million

Pounds has been put up in Rewards for the return of the little girl. WHEN

was THAT kind of cash ever put up for ANY of the many other kids,

who have been abducted in the UK - or for UK kids abducted outside the UK?

Now we hear that a Pop Concert is being planned to 'help' get

the little girl back! HOW is THAT supposed to help? All it does is make

people wonder why such things are never - ever - done for the many

other Kids who go missing. More & more 'Celebrities' seem determined

to join in with this case - it looks like they are jumping on a Band Wagon.

It all ends up with many people wondering why so many Celebrities etc.,

are so obsessed with this case, but have done nothing for the many

similar cases in the past.

What the Hell is a Concert supposed to achieve? Make more people

realise that the little girl is missing? I would have thought that everyone

in Europe, & beyond, has heard of the case by now!

A lot of people are being very silly about all of this. Pop Concerts,

& huge Rewards, are not going to get that little girl back. Only whoever

took her can do that - and he is hardly going to pay the least attention

to a bloody Pop Concert - that comes across as a Band Wagon jumping

Publicity Stunt!

As I said - if the lttle girl had been left on her own by a Single Mum, on a Council Estate,

no one would be doing Concerts etc - the Press would be calling for the Mum to be

charged with neglect!

And the point of re-enacting a crime committed in Portugal on a BRITISH TV show would be....what exactly.....? Kinda thought the whole point of "Crimewatch" was to focus on crime committed on these shores, so it would jog the memories of people over here....

As for the shrine in Derby... Again, the point is.....?

Fukk, I know this is gonna sound terrible, but I really do wish they'd just find her... Dead or alive, so we can actually MOVE ON TO FOCUS ON THE OTHER KIDS WHO GO MISSING EVERY FUKKIN' DAY IN OUR COUNTRY...... <_< <_<

Another excellent post from Zeus.....

You wouldn't happen to be a journalist by any chance would you.....?

Thank You. No - I am just an 'ordinary' person.

I am too honest to be a Journalist!

Sorry for insulting you there mate... ;)

Mind you there was a point in our history that when to be a journalist was an honourable profession.... Not all journos are scum, just the ones who work for the Tabloids, Fox News, Sky, CNN, Al Jazeera and the likes of the "Daily Mail" and "Daily Express"...

I heard on the news earlier that the parents are doing another appeal at an upcoming event though I can't remember what it was now. I'm past caring about the whole thing now...

And here I thought I was the only person with these thoughts. Leave your little kid alone, in a resort in a foreign country, to go eat dinner??? What, are the kids too annoying to be with you? Can you not afford a baby-sitter? If you could afford the resort, you can afford at least that.

Kids go missing all the time, and most will never be seen again, and in saying this I lament what has happened to this girl. But she is just one pixel in a much larger image: all the kids all over the world who starve to death, who are raped, who have no homes, who are forced to become labourers or child soldiers, etc.

The press should be screaming about all of this, not just one kid from a wealthy and very white family.

While I do hope the kid is found, this whole affair leaves me with a very bad taste in the mouth.

Simple Minds are re-releasing "Don't You Forget About Me" as a charity song with proceeds donated, can't believe this is happening.

This is absolutely fecking ridiculous, these people are being given so much sympathy for being BAD PARENTS :manson: I'd like to see these proceeds go to help find the children of responsible parents who have gone missing through no fault of the parents whatsoever...

It truly sickens me how ignorant and stupid the British public can be
