I thought it may be good to have a photo thread - one that's not necessarily favorites but, just ones we could discuss. I wont put the Darius in bed one in as we've already had a nice little discussion. This one, I don't know where it comes from at all. I happen to really like it and love to hear your comments. Positive and negative are equally welcome.

Live twice, doing his Enrique Englaias? stand up bit is it? i can't recall if it was from Cilla's show or something else, but I do like it a lot, I like the expression on his face, and that pout. I thought a few postures in this song were very Enrique, in the video especially - I wonder if he was told to do it ? he did look at LOT better than Enrique doing it thouh I must say.

I wonder if it was from the BBC Sunday morning show, Heaven and Earth. I remember being very moved by his performance of Live Twice on there. He certainly was not pouting just a little serious. He'd just been discussing the papers and he'd brought up the continuing tragedy of aids in Africa and about the incredibly huge worldwide statistics of fatalities caused by poverty.

 

It may be controversial to say this but I've never found Enrique as handsome as Darius, but then I've never seen Enrique in the flesh.

 

 

Edit: I forgot to say I like the sharp contrast between the man in black and the screaming green background. I like the way the photographer has captured the sadness in his eyes too.

 

It isn't from H & E. He was wearing different clothes.

 

 

 

I don't normally like posed photos but one I really like is the Angel one (without the flames).

 

I also think the New York ones where he's sitting on top of a building are great photographs - either of those would have made a better cover for the album. I found them on google but couldn't get them on here.

It's a wonder he got talked into doing this one as he thought it had been agreed that he wouldn't have to wear the wings in the shoot. Typical Darius - throws ghimself into it aanyway, I do like this series of pics as they show he can act as well. I think most people would have looked rediculous but, he carries it off.

The green one - I can't remember seeing a show with a green background. The look on his face is very much the early days of 'Live Twice' when he really related to losing his Dad and his Dad was still not in the clear. Of course, the background could have been any colour and just the light through the shutters showing that colour.

No, you were right, I did mean the first one. I think the picture would have been more striking if he'd been wearing more appropriate clothing but I like the composition. It's like something from a fresco.

 

They're fabulous wings.............ten feet wingspan......... but they look just right on Darius.

 

I love the look back up to heaven. I'm not sure whether he's listening intently or angry/rebellious.

You are all going too fast for me. I believe definitely the first one is from the Cilla show, he did wear black shirt to that but not for heaven and earth. I like all of the pictures. He is very photogenic. The wings ones goes back a long way I believe.

It came out the very Sunday that Colourblind went to number one and the magazine has survived lots of culls so I guess I just love that photoshoot.

 

The article was actually entitled Angelic Upstart so I guess he was meant to be a bit rebellious.

 

 

This isn't the best of photos but it was the first time I met Darius so holds a special place in my heart :heart:

The first time I actually met him was at The chicago rock cafe. It was a brilliant gig. He made time to sign for everyone. Our conversation went :

me. Can you say when the album will be out

D September this year (03)

 

me. Can you take your baseball cap of for the pic?

D I'd rather not - it's a bad hair day

 

me Looks more like a no hair day.

D. shrug and smile and then photo.

 

He was really patient with everyone. I then had to drive home at 2am arrive at 3:30 and get up for work at 6:00.

 

It was worth every minute

 

 

he didnt pout on heaven and earth, I thought it may have been from Cilla? I did find there were overtones fo Enrique..but no where as cheesy or oily as Enrique,

 

and I never understood the attraction of him, Darius outshines him completely.

oh, the angel picture, I adore that, possibley due to the bare feet, and the fact I see darius as quite heavenly, and Michael being one of my favourite films - I often imagined him in the role, smelling of chocolate, irrististable to women, ..and being an arc angel, a winged warrior, the angry look upwards makes me think he was a devilish angel - just like Arc angel Michael in the film

love the shirt in the last one, HATE the hat! but I bet his hair is all uncontrollable and curly, so its being kept at bay!!
