May 21, 200718 yr And?! Dosn't mean his music is good :P He was in the beatles, who cares? If we was all in the beatles does that mean we all get awards, even though they ended like 20 summin years ago? <_< I wish people would move on. -_- Before The Beatles just two British acts had #1 singles in the USA between 1940 & 1963 (24 years). In 1964 The Beatles had the entire USA Top5 Singles in the same week & 18 singles in the Top100 at the same time. The Beatles went on to have 20 USA #1 singles between March 1964 & April 1970. Plus they started the British invasion which led to major chart success for UK acts: The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Animals, Dave Clark Five, Hermans Hermits, Petula Clark, Lulu, Dusty Springfield, Donovan, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Manfred Mann, Zombies, Freddie & The Dreamers, Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders, Tom Jones all having Top 5 success in the USA before the end of 1967. Paul McCartney has spent more than 5 years at #1 in the UK singles & albums chart in his lifetime and more than 4 Years at #1 in the USA. Since The Beatles, British acts the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, The Police, Duran Duran, George Michael/Wham, Radiohead, Spice Girls & Coldplay can have claimed that they have been the Biggest Act in the World of Music at some point in their careers. Thanks to the legacy of The Beatles, that is why USA music magazines Rolling Stone, Billboard, Blender, Spin, etc take note of "The Next Big Thing" to come out of the UK (i.e. within the last 18 months - the Arctic Monkeys, Natasha Bedingfield, Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae & Lily Allen). Before The Beatles, British music was no more significant than French, German, Spanish, Swedish, Italian acts, etc. After The Beatles that all changed. The Beatles ARE the reason the UK has the second most successful music industry in the world today. It is that simple.

I can't think of many people who are more deserving of it myself, maybe Winston Churchill.
