3 covers in 3 years is good

You've got a freind 2005 for comic relief

don't stop me now 2006 sports relief

baby's coming back 2007

they 2 albums with no covers

and on the third album 1 cover don't stop me now and baby's coming back on limited cd

Btw The people that do sport relief wanted an act to sing don't stop me now as a official single no matter who it was

they wanted Mcfly to do it and if they said no they would have asked someone else

Baby's coming back Mcfly asked to cover that as its one of their fav bands

Fair enough, I thought they'd done more than that. One of my own favourite bands Carter USM did their fair share of cover versions...

Carter USM regularly did cover versions as B-sides but not as the lead track on a single. They also had one single where the extra tracks were covers of Carter songs by other acts.

Also, to McFly's credit, whenever they do release a cover, it is ALWAYS as a double-A side, coupled with an original song.

also wedding present had loads of singles getting in the top 20 and having 1 week plus a number 10 with 2 weeks on the chart

Quite right - In 1992 Wedding Present released 12 singles (1 each month)

I don't mind McFly, and I quite like Transylvania. They are an act that have a loyal fanbase and practically zero interest outside of that fanbase, but I have nothing against them. There are far worse acts out there.

The only other act I can think of are Pestlife

Indeed - but The Impossible Dream was released as a single.

I have the single in question that you mention (Glam Rock Cops) - I must look it out cos the covers are ace - The Sultans take on Do Re Me So Far So Good is as you'd expect, Blade's Lenny and Terence is fantastic and turns the original on it's head and the other band (Public Works?) do a great new version of Falling on a Bruise.

I'll have to dig out my copy too - and some of their other singles. They were great fun live too - and not only when assaulting Philip Schofield.

Yup, I'm off to see them for the fourth time at their Brixton Academy reunion gig in November. It'll be the first time Jim, Fruity and the drum machine have played together since 1994!

Don't suppose you've got a spare ticket
