McFly singer Tom Fletcher is celebrating his tenth song to hit number one - by taking up flying.

The musician penned three chart-toppers with Busted and last week notched up his seventh with McFly thanks to 'Coming Back/Transylvania'.

McFly's seven chart-toppers gives them more than Queen and Robbie Williams, puts them on a par with Sir Elton John and U2 and one behind Oasis.

Fletcher said he thought McFly missed out on the respect they deserved. “With a pop act people tend to not really acknowledge you," he complained. "Which has been a bit frustrating over the last few years.

“But I think credibility comes with success. No one doubts Robbie Williams’ credibility and song writing but he came from Take That, the most stereotypical boy band in pop."

He also told The Sun he was taking up flying, while bandmate Danny Jones has been banned from driving after a speeding offence.

“I might try to buy a plot of land out the back of my house and put in a landing strip," he commented. “I had my first lesson on Saturday. Danny could lose his licence soon so I could be his taxi service.”

i know i just realised i forgot to put it doh, its from digital spy anyway

They may have had 7 number numbers but hardly any of them have sold very well. They probably also hold the record for lowest selling number 1 single now.

Does anyone know what their total single and album sales are? I'm sure they'll have done pretty well by now but it

seems they're not doing as well since the last album.

if they want credibility they should stop begging their fans with emails and all to buy their single the moment it comes out, and let them buy it off their own backs without being pestered to do so

All I know is before it's re-release the latest album hadn't shifted 200k.

ROTFL but when will they understand that they have NO success! Everyone can sing along Robbie's hits, while noone knows McFly's songs, numba 1 or not, they're so ridiculous.

I have to admit though, their first album singles were good :kink:

That Girl and Obviously pushed my buttons  All About You too  after that it all went a bit wrong

i like some of their material  :coffee:

lol I have to agree with that...they send out myspace bulletins like five times a day!

I do like a lot of their songs though, and their second album was really good

10 number one's?

I thought it was something like seven

Double A-sides I think he meant. :(

i think it is he has written on 7, cause aparntly he wrote 3 for busted.... i dunno

I like McFly and I think they do deserve more respect that a lot of groups out there
They may have more than Queen or Robbie, but they probably have 1/50 of their sales :coffee:
They probably do deserve more respect, but whining about it won't help, especially if they are going to make digs about Take That being a stereotypical boyband.

The fat blonde one wrote a lot of songs with Busted - he's mates with James. Yes sad I know but I liked Busted. :( McFly are vile though and the sooner they bugger off the better. Only 3 of their songs have sold over 100k in the UK.

Their debut album did over 600k I remember but unsure about the other two. Just cos they have loads of #1s they think they're something special. Their sales are pitiful/ Busted had 2 million selling albums and neither of them even made the #1 spot. :smoke:
