From the ever-unreliable wikipedia:

Kelis is working on her upcoming fifth studio album titled "The Puppeteer". Palow da don has been said to produce most of the album on an interview with hiphophighs. Kelis Was Here was supposed to be titled "The Puppeteer" but was changed for unknown reasons.

Kelis is said to be “desperate” to work with “Acceptable in the 80’s” star, Calvin Harris,

The “Bossy” singer hopes to join the likes of pop princess Kylie Minogue - who is already recording with Calvin Harris - in employing the talents of the music’s latest rising star.

I cant imagine a Kelis and Calvin collab sounding good at all! The page states Will.I.Am and Palow Da Don are the confirmed producers - has anyone heard anything about this album, or is she still sticking with promoting Kelis Was Here? My guess is that she isnt, because its been so long now since Lil Star got a release.

Indeed, but it would kind of make sense to call the next one that, if she had wanted that title. Im sure its wishful thinking though  I dont even think its a good album title.
I doubt that's true TBH, it's too soon after KWH and I can't imagine she'd give up on it so quickly :(

But if she hasnt, where is the next single? Lil Star did so well, as well :(

Indeed, thats very catchy but im not sure radio in the UK would play it with the lyrics 'you wanna get in my pants, i dont think so!'. For me it should/would be Trilogy perhaps.

Kelis is INDEED now working on her next studio album. She's hoping for it to drop late this year/early next year.

Its currently got the working title "After Ten".

so basically her last album floppped? if shes wanting to move onto the next album so quickly im thinking yes

Yes, it sold 140k in the US (DIRE sales :(), 25k in Britain and apparently 35k in Oz but it charted at 96 so i see that as unlikely! I think it only sold 250k or so worldwide!

Great news that Jake, how'd you find that out? :o

It shoulda done so much better, it was an AMAZING album -_- The promotion was dire and Bossy was the WORST LEAD SINGLE POSSIBLE :manson: Lil' Star would've sent it high :(

There's info about it elsewhere.

She's confirmed it in interviews and stuff, its why we're not getting another single I believe

Oooh ok! Well im happy with no new single if theres an album in the works.

I know! Very very good album, much better than Tasty. Bossy was indeed a terrible choice, Blindfold Me wouldve been better for the US and for us, Lil Star like you said. Theres only like 3 bad songs on the album, pretty impressive given that its a 19 song album!

If this is true then I can't believe that the whole 'Kelis Was Here' project has been abondoned!

Lil' Star was a massive hit in the UK and the album could have shifted more copies if it had a proper re-release.

Blinfold Me has been on the release schedule for ages but I personally don't think it's a good single choice. I think 'Fire' has HIT written all over it

i thought it was a shame that it flopped cos before last year she wasnt around for what? 2/3 years? and you would think that to make a album over that period of time would be a huge success or at least a success

2 years. Yer, i forgot Fire - that had the most potential!
"Fire" was re-recorded with a Sean Paul vocal but alas Virgin seemed to have canceled any plans :(
Kelis Was Here is an amazing album  Lil Star really should have had more of an impact on album sales :(

Bossy gave her a 3rd hit in the US, so it was the appropriate choice over there.

Anyway, I think Calvin Harris is a bit weird, although Kelis has worked with dance acts like Richard X and Timo Maas, and did a house track with P Diddy.
