The La's - Way Out, did not chart!!! and The La's - Feeling got to #43

but both desearve to go to #1 even if McFly are covering it.

is there any other jangly pop retro tunes that (like Jellyfish's Baby Coming Back), failed to go Top 30 when they were originally released years and years and years ago, and desearve to go to number one (even if the only way to do so is by using McFly :w00t: )

note: remember retro tunes only is the focus only!!! no slagging off McFly here!!!!

interesting notion tigerdude... im sure most of the early beatles album tracks would fit the 'mcfly' treatment. always thought of their sound being straight out of liverpool c'64.

yeah but beatles might be too obv isnt there a really obscure artist from that period who could get a bit of respect you know like when Gnarls sampled Trees and they got their albums re-issued and got respect from loads of press articles.

I hope no-one from McFly reads this as I pray that these classics don't get ruined by those numpties. I still shudder when I think of Sixpence None the Richer.

A great idea for a thread..... goes to look on YouTube for some 1970s PowerPop Classics.....

Badfinger - No Matter What (1971)

Todd Rundgren - Hello It's Me (1974)

The Raspberries - Go All The Way (1974)

what with these Raspberries and a Strawberry Alarm clock, maybe we should make a fruit salad here one day

Of course they are on about staying together to try and beat The Beatles 17 UK#1's so they could always try covering some other Macca inspired harmonic pop tracks like:

Crowded House - World Where You Live (1987)

Bourgeois Tagg - I Don't Mind At All (1988)

World Party - Message In A Box (1990)

Also:

E.L.O. - Diary Of Horace Wimp (1979)

10cc - Rubber Bullets (1973)

Or the man himself.....

Paul McCartney - Take It Away (1982)

Or some original "angular" New Wave Pop.....

Squeeze - Up The Junction (1979)

XTC - Towers Of London (1980)

Elvis Costello & The Attractions - Radio Radio (1979)
