Posted May 28, 200718 yr Does anyone know who will be supporting the Arctic Monkeys in Lille on 4 July?
May 28, 200718 yr No idea, infact i'm not even sure they've been announced yet. If I was gonna hazard a guess though, i'd say The Little Flames.

I've tried Googling them and that linked to an announcement that they've split up. The Coral are the support in Paris two days earlier but they don't appear to be doing the Lille gig. I didn't even know they've split up. I checked the Arctic Monkeys offical site though, but there's no listing for the gig in Lille. Stange. It might be The Coral then, but I just dunno.

May 28, 200718 yr Ah well, thanks for trying. I just want to know whether it's worth turning up for the support. If it's The Coral, it will be worth it. Yeah it will be. They're a good band and everything, but I mean i'd turn up for the support act/s anyway, because who know they could be the next big thing? Unlikely but possible. :P

They're a good band and everything, but I mean i'd turn up for the support act/s anyway, because who know they could be the next big thing? Unlikely but possible. :P It has happened. I saw Radiohead and Suede as support acts as well as a band called the Jennifers who went on to become Supergrass. I've also seen a lot of dreadful support bands. After all, if they were going to be supported by, say The Fray, I'd definitely want to stay away.

I was just making the point that the support could be a band I've heard of and don't like. If they're a band I don't know at all I'll probably get there in time to see what they're like.

Ahhh I see. :P Well I think the support acts that are announced are always interesting and unless it's a band/act that you've heard of before, and you really detest them, i'd go see them personally. ^_^ It's all included in the price of the ticket after all.

Very true. The worst dilemma is when there are two support acts and you want to see the first of them but not the second. It's OK if the venue is large enough to go somewhere where you can't hear the band but a problem in a small venue. I should add that the Arctics were a support act when I first saw them. They were the first band out of four with Antony and the Johnsons headlining. The Arctics were great. I didn't last until the end of the Antony and the Js set.

I guess that would be a problem, but to be honest with it being The Arctics I think their support acts will be good. They normally hand pick their support acts and I definitley don't think they'd let some awful band support them, so i'd take it that the support acts will be good. :P

Unless they choose some really awful band to make themselves look good. Not that I'm suggesting the Arctics would do that.

Oh no the Arctics certainly wouldn't do that. :P They've a band driven by their fans. I mean how many other acts from the last 20 years or so have released 2 albums in 15 months, an EP with totally new/re-worked tracks and a new single that wasn't even one the album?! Not many that's for sure.
