Posted June 3, 200718 yr How you think the Editors new single will do. I like it a lot and think it could really break the band. Reckon Top 10.
June 3, 200718 yr I think it's incredibly boring. Q (I know they're hardly the most reliable source) gave the album just two stars saying they've tried to go all Coldplay on us but failed. If the lead single is anything to go by then for once they're right.
June 3, 200718 yr I disagree with Q, I have heard 6 of the tracks off the new album and yes, I know I'm a big fan so my opinion is probably quite biased but there are some really good ones in there. 'The Racing Rats' is amazing and 'An End Has a Start' and 'Bones' are crying out to be singles. I admit, I wasn't too sure about 'Smokers' when I first heard it but it grew on me really quickly. I'm hoping the band will be successful with this and with the new album and prove all those so-called music reviewers wrong. xXx
June 3, 200718 yr I wasn't keen on it begin with, then I really liked it, and now i've gone off it again. Their new track is very epic though and quite mellowish, so I could see Q being right about them trying to be like Coldplay to be honest...

Apparently Coldplay don't sound like Coldplay on their new album : They're going for a stadium-rock sound :o
June 3, 200718 yr Apparently Coldplay don't sound like Coldplay on their new album : They're going for a stadium-rock sound :o Oh they are? :o They're meant to be working with Timbaland aren't they? Might work really well I reckon, will certainly give them a change in flavour that's for sure.

Yeah, Danny Mcnamara confirmed it, he said to forget your expectations of them before and also that Embrace will be back, with hopefully another no.1 soon Maybe he can have Coldplays cast-offs ala Gravity if Coldplay are changing their sound :P Another collaboration with Timbaland :( I've heard enough of him but it would be interesting to hear
June 4, 200718 yr Apparently Coldplay don't sound like Coldplay on their new album : They're going for a stadium-rock sound :o I thought Coldplay pretty much were a "Stadium Rock" band already tbh.... -_- Which is probably the reason I despise them so much.... I've absolutely no time for "stadium rock" at all, boring, pretentious clap-trap for the most part.... It truly disturbs me to think that Editors are beginning to emulate Coldplay, that would be a real shame, they had a bit of individuality and character about them on their debut even if it was a wee bit derivitive of bands like Echo and the Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes, Joy Division and Psychadelic Furs....
June 4, 200718 yr This is fast becoming my favourite song of the year, definitely getting their album, the Back Room was an exceptional album.

Another collaboration with Timbaland :( I've heard enough of him but it would be interesting to hear Timbaland interesting??? eh?? i dont think timbaland could be intersting if he tried these days seeing as he's the man responsibe for several bordoms on commercial radio (but hey mr commercial radio playlister thinks well if its black, american and urban therefore it must be cool, and if its sung by a nelly ot a justin it wont scare off the 35 year old mothers in their renualt clios and so, to paraphase that lebanese pop vacuum, ker-ching!!!!) btw imo the Pop/Martin Cherion composition I want you back is much better than what goes around comes around 'cos at least there's some pop life to it* * and thats saying something as obv Ms Johansson wont be in the I want you back vid
June 14, 200718 yr I've just downloaded the album and I can't listen to anymore, it just all sounds the same to me from what i've heard. They've gone very Coldplay, with tracks that are 5mins+, but Q were right - they've just failed.
June 14, 200718 yr I really liked 'The Back Room' album, but I can't say I'm all that impressed with what I've heard of their latest stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's alright, but it very much looks like they could be having 'difficult second album' syndrome.
June 20, 200718 yr the single's grown on me a lot, but from what I heard of the album, they've most certainly had a very problematic second record....

June 20, 200718 yr I still think they sound like an arty wedding band :) like their new single though.
June 20, 200718 yr After hearing the album they are (for once) correct. That Q 'review' was disgraceful. I mean, for instance, how are 'Push Your Head...' and 'The Racing Rats' interchangeable? And only 2 out of 5, that's harsh... I guess the reviewer based his piece on only one listen or maybe he had already made his mind up before even listening to the new album. But who cares what Q write anyway, didn't they give the second Razorlight album 5 stars, calling it the best guitar album since Definately Maybe?
