Albums where only ONE or even NO singles were taken off?
THAT must be one of the most random campaigns, especially for a band with such a consistent singles history. mind you, eventually they saw fit to give Get On Your Boot a release. THAT was probably even odder.

Radiohead's Kid A, MGMT's Congratulations...

Predict: Little Boots - "Remedy"
Now i'm just SO disappointed with Little Boots. How can anyone so brutally set such portentously exotic, dream-like cover arts against such ground level, unambitious tunes? number 23 is the place this deserves.

PREDICT: Wale ft Lady GaGa - Chillin'

Predict: MPHO - Box N Locks

Buzz Lightyear 'first man on moon' some believe
errr... are you aware that your main source credits in its home page (as one of its three main stories) Robbie Williams' UFO endorsement as some kind of major happening? now THAT is hard to explain.

Don't stand for it on Ryanair
Grim, that pun finally gave it away. admit it, you REALLY are Gordon Smart B)

Don't stand for it on Ryanair
hehe a fair haired steward once told me that the telemetry interference thing was more or less a veil of Maya, meant to cover up the fact that at certain heights it would be impossible for mobile companies to track down (and charge for them) any calls from and towards any provider. given the source this could be either the most accurate, reliable insight on the subject or the most vapid chat up excuse ever. another day, another corporate conspiracy

Don't stand for it on Ryanair
i can see these flights becoming major attractions on youtube though.

Predict: Lily Allen - "22"
i'm totally in awe with the video. a bit like having the chance to peek at what was happening in the ladies room while in the gentlemens' Mike Skinner was snorting (see Blinded by the lights) actually i wish a mash up clip was made off these two promos i'd say a very respectable number 21 for this. cheers Lily you can play my xbox anytime.

Songs By British Artists That Could've Been Hits In The US
I can't really see how, Aled. Not even Europe has showed any particular understanding of Girls Aloud's complex blend of cheesy 90's euro power house and Bow Wow Wow post punk sensibility. however, it would be interesting to see Polydor promoting that formula (more of that later in this post) I agree that Foundations could have been a sizeable hit in the US, because it came out on the back of the americans flirtation with Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse and Kate Nash just fit in with that kind of neurotic pop persona. again, thinking back at the way Can't get you out of my head became a huge hit on its own strength I just wish record companies took more risk and just not limited themselves to feed the american market with a pre-packaged idea of what should appeal to big america. kylie minogue may be a case, back in 2001 she sounded AND (in that particular promo) looked like an alien to the average US citizen and that didn't stop Fever becoming a huge seller. now wouldn't it be such a thrill if In for the Kill replicated that feat :)

Singles chart faces digital shake-up
the OCC is well aware that the digital era as we know it is to become an obsolete concept soon. we, the buying public, may not foresee this yet because the market has caught up on downloads only recently. but it is apparent now that formats have a shorter life cycle than before. like the report says, it's gonna take a while, years surely, but the growth of digital downloads is not only bound to reach a plateau, it will inevitably get in reverse mode. so, yeah, when that happens streaming is gonna be more than just an option

The top 40 hits that never were!
New Order Bizarre Love Triangle #56 I mean, honestly, this defies any logic

Sunday Chart Predictions
For the same reason you may find yourself in the disposition to purchase that old hit from an act you would normally diss just because it sounded and felt SO GOOD that night when she/he caught your eye at that party. It may not be cool but hey it's a genuine feeling.

PREDICT: Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning
does it? from what i've heard i would call it more a "career SOS" single. i know that you could probably say the same about Freak like me (as it obviously was a make or break moment) but ...in that case they came to rescue their career and ended up rescuing pop. i don't know, this is okay but it just doesn't have that special something to grab you by the balls. i just wish they went proper dubstep on this.

err .. I'm sure no one here has ever raised this before... but are you, like, really 12 years old? :)

Sunday Chart Predictions
It's not awful in the slightest, it's just a too generic for its own good. In fact, in the same way that New In Town made a disservice to Little Boots' quirky appeal, this song puts an unwelcome brake on VV's angular songwriting. I can see that in both cases record labels were aiming at mainstream recognition but are ending up with pop/indie hybrids the big public/in crowd won't connect with anyway. back to your question, everyone wants her to do well at the moment... because the lady is surely gifted with a personality, given a chance hopefully those mindblowing tunes will follow.

Sunday Chart Predictions
yeah, fat chance, even though for the lyrics and the themes of its songs Lungs must be THE funeral album of the year.
-
PREDICT: Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning
Yup, it's no circus, it looks more like a 60's club in Soho :)

PREDICT: Arctic Monkeys - Crying Lightning
I really like the artwork. I can't decide whether it's dumb lad rock imagery or pure class, anyway it's a turn on. In fact I wish I could see more naked women on top of drums in pop.

Top 75 Singles / Albums Charts + Comps
No shock at all, Stagey. The UK chart book is littered with embarrassment, though you could mention worse offenders than Madonna and Kylie. How about every X Factor winner's first chart topper, Robson & Jerome, Comic Relief and charity songs in general? However accusing some areas in music of being manufactured is just plain dishonest. Every genre gets marketed to the public one way or another and every act is just as manufactured no matter the amount of talent at stake. Putting Kylie and Madonna on the same level may be questionable, putting both on the same level as Cascada is just comedy. No one with a functioning ears set can deny that "Kylie the puppet" has delivered moments of sheer pop brilliance, no matter how patchy and inconsistent her career. And yes, she IS credible in what she does (in fact the one time she didn't sound credible was when she teamed with JD Bradfield). Besides, for all her misteps, how can you put something like Slow and 2 Hearts back to back and claim that she is repeating the same formula? as for Madonna, she may have become a lousy character but could you honestly save only 2 or three songs of hers? Then tell us, who does pop the way it should be done?
