Posted June 6, 200718 yr New entries set to flood albums chart 05 June 2007 - 12:44:27 Source: Music Week http://www.planet.nl/upload_mm/0/1/9/1950689304_1999996021_rihanna1.jpg Newly-issued sets from Biffy Clyro (pictured), Rihanna and The Twang are battling it out to top the UK albums chart in the busiest week of the year so far for new releases. 14th Floor Recordings act Biffy Clyro’s Puzzle, Def Jam/Mercury’s Rihanna with Good Girl Gone Bad and B Unique/Polydor’s The Twang with Love It When I Feel Like This are expected to make up the top three of the albums chart this coming Sunday but, with fewer than 2,000 sales separating them, it is too early to call the order they are expected to finish in. Likely to be joining them in the top five is Memory Almost Full, the first official Paul McCartney album to be released in the UK away from EMI. Issued on the Starbucks-affiliated Hearmusic label through Mercury Records in the UK, the album looks on course to become his highest-charting new studio set in the UK since Flaming Pie reached number two in 1997. Four other newly-released albums are also vying for places in the Top 10: Interscope/Polydor’s Marilyn Manson with Eat Me Drink Me, Xl-signed Dizzee Rascal’s Maths & English, 4th & Broadway/Island’s Mutya Buena’s debut solo album Real Girl and Roadrunner act Dream Theater with Systematic Chaos. Meanwhile, Maroon 5’s Universal debut It Won’t Be Soon Before Long is facing the possibility of losing its top five status on Sunday. Several other new albums are also pushing for Top 40 places, including new releases by Columbia’s Bruce Springsteen and UMTV’s Hank Marvin and the return of Virgin’s Genesis retrospective Turn It On Again – The Hits, which has been re-promoted to tie in with the band’s reunion tour. As she looks to top the albums chart with her second album, Rihanna is looking a solid bet to make it a fourth week at number one on the singles chart with her Jay-Z collaboration Umbrella. The Def Jam/Mercury release, however, faces competition from Sony BMG’s Calvin Harris whose The Girls is expected to make a significant climb from its number nine debut last Sunday. Elsewhere there is expected to be little movement in the Top 10, although Reverend & The Makers’ Wall of Sound single Heavyweight Champion Of The World is anticipated to climb into the Top 10 from its current position of 12. There are expected to be no new entries in the Top 10 with the chart’s predicted highest arrivals, Interscope/Polydor’s Queens Of The Stone Age, likely to fall several places short with 3’s & 7’s. ========================================= Singles 01 Rihanna feat.
