For the first time, the U-21 European Football championships will be an independent competition, out of the shadow of the main team qualifying events.

The Netherlands will host the 2007 U-21 European Championships in Football. Ironically, the Dutch are the current title holders after beating Ukraine in last year's tournament in Portugal.

The Groups are:

Group A - Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal and Israel

Group B - Italy, England, Serbia and Czech Republic.

England passed the group phase leaving behind Switzerland and Moldova. Then in defeated Germany in the play offs. England faces Czech republic on June 11th in Arnhem, the Italy on the 14th and Serbia on the 17th.

This tournament will also determine the four European teams who will be in the Football tournament at the 2008 Olympics. However, since England participates in the Olympics as part of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, it cannot be qaulified if it moves for the semifinals.

So the semifinals on Wednesday will be Serbia-Belgium and Netherlands-England. On Thursday Italy and Portugal will play a play-off game to decide the fourth vanacy for the Olympic Games, since England can't qualify because it needed to be an UK team.
Loving how UEFA are looking to punish England for the brawl -_- and no doubt will slap a four-five figure fine on Serbia and turn a blind eye -_-
