September 8, 200717 yr Well say that you like it, as opposed to just 'Smoke' lol. Edited September 8, 200717 yr by Jark
September 8, 200717 yr Well I just downloaded the greatest hits and its called Smoke...so thats why I thought..
September 10, 200717 yr Got it through the door from Amazon - really didnt realise she had so many good songs! Theres some on there that i didnt even know were hers!
September 10, 200717 yr I bought it with the DVD today. 'Glorious' is sort of beginning to grow on me...
September 10, 200717 yr Let's be honest here folks, Natalie Imbruglia is one of these artists who did a huge debut album and then totally failed to live up to the hype with subsequent releases - in short, she shot her creative and commercial load with the debut - The press release boasts 10 million album sales, well, just doing rudimentary research on Wikipedia reveals that the vast majority of these sales was for "Left of the Middle" (over 7 million copies sold), her other two albums have barely even come close to matching the debut's success (second album around 1.5 million, third barely 500,000 - so the total is actually closer to NINE million going by Wikipedia's figures, but hey, 10 million sounds a lot better than 9 for purposes of PR and hyping a "greatest hits" compilation doesn't it...?)... So, for her label to come away with a "Greatest Hits" collection is, at best, rather presumptious to say the least, and I would say that the record company are just being a bunch of really cheeky sods to be honest.... <_< I've nothing against the girl, but let's face it, she's old news, Pop Stars aint meant to last forever....
September 10, 200717 yr Christ, you do nothing but b!tch. All of her album's have gone at least Platinum in the UK. The last debuted at #1 and sold 300k. I think it's great that she's releasing a GH, and ultimately time and sales will prove you wrong. ^_^

September 10, 200717 yr I don't think Natalie "shot her creative load" with her debut at all. While Left Of The Middle is a good album, I certainly think White Lilies Island on the whole is better and showcases her artistic side more. Counting Down The Days was admittedly patchy and weak, but it had it's moments. How do you people see this GH doing? I think it could make the top 10, but I forsee a chart run similar to that of which Absolute Garbage had recently.
September 10, 200717 yr It's going to take one of two courses; it'll either debut in the Top 10 at about 5 or 6 and spends 3 or 4 weeks in the top 20, selling really well - or it'll debut at 8 or 9 and drop faster than you can say 'another fukking unfair flop'.
September 10, 200717 yr All will become clear with tomorrow's midweeks. I'm fairly anxious to see them actually. :o Either way, I really can't see it sticking around for long at all. :(
September 10, 200717 yr I agree. The only possible consolation is that Be With You is amazing and when released in Nov/Dec will do great things!
September 11, 200717 yr Christ, you do nothing but b!tch. All of her album's have gone at least Platinum in the UK. The last debuted at #1 and sold 300k. I think it's great that she's releasing a GH, and ultimately time and sales will prove you wrong. ^_^ The research doesn't lie mate, regardless of what you say - she had her moment in the sun, now it's gone.. Perhaps if she'd marketed herself as a more "alternative" singer/songwriter like Alanis, K T or Tori, then the fact that her follow up albums kind of flopped wouldn't be quite so bad, but she was marketed as a POP star first and foremost, not an "indie/alternative" darling, and what use is a POP star who dont shift the units...? 300k in comparison to over 7 MILLION is a flop in terms of POP music sales, no matter how you gloss it over. The trouble with people like you is you only think in terms of British sales, but Britain is a totally irrelevant market place in a GLOBAL environment... A "Greatest Hits" after only three studio albums and nine singles is a bit rich IMO, you need to achieve a lot more than that in order to justify a GH.... I would say, the standard should be at least FIVE studio albums and maybe about 15-20 singles....
September 11, 200717 yr Whilst I love Natalie, I'd be surprised if White Lillies Island had gone platinum... Well, I put up the worldwide sales for all three of her albums in my post...
