That got to a peak position of 32. Lowest position for an Ev song, ever. That was by far one of the best tracks on the album too.

What happened is their record label is c**p...... <_< That and the fact that Amy Lee seems determined to sack or replace band members every five minutes.....

its such a shame because i think their music is brilliant but there is obviously something a bit wrong with her as so many of the band have left.

i watched videos from download festival and they were just nothing like they used to be, she didnt sound too good, and people were throwing stuff at her and she was going on big rant saying stuff like "we f***in deserve to be here" hmm..

Really? I thought the download performances was one of the best Ive ever seen from them. She was worried about the reception so really put her heart into that performance.

As for the rant, I think that was perfectly justified. MCR had been BADLY bottled that day or the day before. Just constant bottles being thrown at them. Sure, they may not be very heavy and may be classified as 'emo' but I think its disgusting when the crowd throw bottles. You could hear amy before the show fretting about the reception, and the odd bottles that were thrown stopped after her rant, which I found rather funny to be honest.

Just watched a few download performances and she's got really c**p :o

I watched some of those... "Lithium" and one or two others were good, but ohhhhhhhh deaarrrrr, some of it is just cringeworthy....

As for MCR getting bottled - fukk 'em.... The festival organisers should have known that having a sodding teeny-bop Pop Group headline a METAL festival was never gonna end well, sh"t they'd may as well have gone and booked McFly or Son Of Dork ffs, sorry guys, but it takes a wee bit more than playing dress-up in Uncle Marilyn's wardrobe to be a Metal or Goth band... The bottling of lame bands is Donington tradition..... MCR are just one in a long line of lame bands who've been bottled off stage......

I reckon if they'd been third or fourth on the bill, then there perhaps would not have been quite so much bottling going on, I reckon people took exception more to the fact that they were headliners than anything.... And also, bear in mind that people were probably drinking ALL DAY as well.....

Well, Ev weren't headlining and they gave headliners Iron Maiden their due respect, hence the general lack of bottles.... Also, Ev certainly rock a lot harder than MCR for sure... And I did quite like it when she said "Yeah, there's a Grand Piano on stage, deal with it...!", actually quite a classy retort.... And I give respect to any Rock or Metal band who have a Grand Piano or a choir, or a string quartet (which Nightwish did at a gig in Finland..), or summat "unusual" on stage, there's just summat rather classy about it....

What's happened is their label have just cocked up the release of the best song on the album. :(

...Not to mention the follow-up single... And now they're releasing one of the weakest songs on the album

How many chances is Amy gonna give Wind Up to actually ruin the band...? And, oh god, if you actually look at their "artist roster", what a shower of unmitigated sh!te - Finger Eleven, Creed, Seether...... And a whole bunch of other generic sub-Nu Metal bollocks, it's no wonder they can't seem to handle promoting an album that's a bit "awkward" and not generic..... Mind you, considering they're a Sony/BMG off-shoot.......

I can't believe it only made 32..I love that song so much.

I love evanescence.. Too bad their not doing good atm :(
I'm not sure how Lithium did on the US charts, but I only saw the video on tv a few times... I think it will be hard to promote any other singles because what else on the album is radio friendly? Maybe they should try to release Like You?

I think they should leave Wind Up since they´re not considered an inspirational band anymore and have gathered a lot of criticism from that segment since they became famous, the way of promotion for secular bands is very different. I don´t think this is necessarily the end. They wild need something very catchy and commercial for a comeback with the next album to remain popular, tough.

I think that in short, their fans were shocked that the album was much more 'rock' than Fallen was, as was everyone else. It was hardly a dramatic move by any means, but it was enough to put fans off.

Another theory is that perhaps they left it too long, and another is that you can't really follow up a 13 million selling album from out of nowhere.

Either way, as long as they carry on making music, I don't care. I'll still love 'em.

A similar thing happened with Nirvana... "Nevermind" came out of nowhere (well, sort of..., there was a minority of us who were well aware of Nirvana from their underground Indie label days.. ), sold over 10 million, then they do the rather less "polished" "In Utero", which kinda put off a lot of people because it was much more uncompromising and raw, again, not exactly a dramatic move because "In Utero" was more in the style of their debut, "Bleach", so in a sense, it was "Nevermind" that was atypical of what Nirvana were as a band....

I think if people actually listen to Evanescence's pre-"Fallen" stuff, then they would discover that "The Open Door" is more in keeping with the early material in terms of the actual music... I think it's "Fallen" that's the abberation....

It's a shame really. They really were a good group, in their time :(

"in their time"???? Hell, you make it sound like they've been around since the 70s or 80s or summat.....  Evanescence are very much of this time... I really dunno why some people are so quick to write them off as "yesterday's news" just because "The Open Door" has "only" sold roughly 5 million copies worldwide ( 1.75 million in US, over 3.5 in rest of world according to Wikipedia)...... Most other bands in that particular genre would kill for album sales like that, yeah a real resounding failure that I must say.....

Evanescence should just satisfy themselves with being an "albums" band and just screw releasing singles.... Worked perfectly fine for classic bands like Led Zep and Pink Floyd.....
