Posted June 18, 200718 yr From PopJustice.com: Notes on the Katharine McPhee single Story filed Wednesday, 13 June 2007 » It is today's Song Of The Day. » It's called 'Over It' and it sounds quite a lot like Jojo's 'Too Little To Late'. » It is not a complete carbon copy of the Jojo single because despite being basically the same song it is THREE TIMES BETTER. Also it is sung by someone reasonably unugly rather than a dwarf with an outsized head. » It has been on the Popjustice office stereo at least once a day for what seems like an eternity. » The best thing about the promo CD single we've been sent is that track two is a ten-second 'callout hook' (like the Avril one here), meaning that when the radio edit has finished we are treated to a quick and untrumpeted burst of the chorus. It is a bit like an encore, but on a CD. We demand more encores on CD singles. » The video is eye-wateringly $h!t, but you can't have everything. » The album's not exactly the greatest thing in history, either, although it sounds like a work of genius next to the new Kelly Clarkson 'opus'. Maybe it needs a few tries instead of our handful of abortive attempts at listening which all ended up with us flicking back to 'Over It' within twelve seconds of any other song starting. » It's out over here at the end of July having been knocking around in far-flung places like 'America' for a very long time. » We realise none of the above is really what you might term 'news' but sometimes it's good to take a breather and just catch up on things, don't you think
June 18, 200718 yr Author :w00t: I AM SO EXCITED, EVEN THOUGH I DON'T LIVE IN THE UK! I think this song could easily get the top ten, as Katharine promotes herself well...I guess we will all see! They seemed to like her :D
June 18, 200718 yr Its great that they love it, i wouldnt have thought they would. A lot of people on PopJustice's forum dont like the album much - and one had the CHEEK to say Open Toes is the worst on the album! :o
June 18, 200718 yr Author THEY'RE CRAZY! I think Open Toes and Dangerous tie for the best songs on the album...
June 18, 200718 yr Sorry to spoil your party: Erm, Sony have now decided not to release Katherine McPhee's 'Over It' (also known as "one of the easiest Top 10 hits in the history of 2007") in the UK after all. The curse of Popjustice strikes again, etc etc. Now, we're not qualified lawyers, but we suppose their refusal to make the song commercially available in this country and the fact that they therefore stand to make £0.00 out of it sort of means that you could, in theory, illegally download it with a clear conscience because it would not adversely affect the income of the label, the singer or the songwriters. The song is currently on 'single song repeat' at Popjustice HQ, and has been for the last twenty minutes. Amazing. EDIT: Apparently it's on UK iTunes so most of what we wrote above is complete bollocks. Have a good weekend! PJx --- That's from Popjustice too
June 18, 200718 yr Author EDIT: Apparently it's on UK iTunes so most of what we wrote above is complete bollocks. Have a good weekend! PJx I think that's a sign of good things, and plus Kat has confirmed she will be releasing in the UK...maybe it just won't be "Over It"...
June 18, 200718 yr 'Over It' is the best choice really... great song. Also they're right when they say it's like JoJo's 'Too Little Too Late', only infinitely better. :P
June 18, 200718 yr I'd like to see her release here ... she wasn't my fave on Idol by far (booo, beating Chris), but I WAS gutted she lost to Taylor. However, she could do great things here and fill a void we have here at the moment.
June 20, 200718 yr He's a bit harsh on JoJo!!! Not happy with that at all. BUT love Katharine McPhee. Hope this does good for her :) Don't see why it shouldn't
June 21, 200718 yr It does sound a lot like Too Little Too Late, but then I doubt Kat needs to steal ideas from JoJo :P
June 21, 200718 yr Author LOL, and Kat said that Over It is not near her favorite on the album, she said she would rather have released Love Story or Open Toes as the lead single for the album...which I totally agree with :D
