interesting chart from 37 years ago!... although old theres many standards in there that even the young know!

'spirit in the sky', 'alright now', 'in the summertime', and 'bridge over troubled water' are all familiar tracks but here were making their chart debuts.

theres an interesting mix, some pop, some motown, some rock...

some personal favs in there.... the ides of march 'vehicle', a superb jazz/rock/funk track

mr bloe 'groovin with mr bloe' another superb one hit onder and typified the sounds of summer '70

ten years after.... 'love like a man' excellant track and another one hit wonder

fleetwood mac 'green manalishi' mac at their creative best.... thanks to peter green :)

erm.... thats not quite so is it, i mean the elvis, moodys, and status quo tracks are possibly their least known ones, whilst like it or not, 'alright now', 'in the summertime' and 'spirit in the sky' are all well known and popular... i think they are the 'classics'.

That chart is worse than the current Top40!

to quote john mac enroe 'you cannot be serious'! do you think that anything in the current top 40 will be being discussed in 37 years time? theres nothing in it to compare with the variety of music, plus the individuality and artistry for '70. these guys had something original to say, todays chart is just a money spinning machine.

Down The Dustpipe and Kentucky Rain were huge hits in Australia. Alright Now and Spirit In The Sky have lost something in repetitive radio programming. It's like Imagine. It's a classic but no-one really ever wants to hear it ever again.

EDIT: There was a ban on the radio playing records from the UK when this chart came out so Australia had a local cover of In The Summertime by The Mixtures and Yellow River was by Jigsaw in Melbourne and Fantasy in Sydney.
