Not really. a mod doesn't have a great amount of privalidges. i can't think of anything that needs to be pinned or unpinned

I never understood their job?

They are given extra priviledges in their forum

 

I.e, Pinning, Unpinnin, edited posts, deleting etc. They can also change the banner and description
