Posted June 20, 200718 yr Everyone has heard of Cliff :naughty: , but what other singers of the time were any good. What about any of these Adam Faith....What do you want Anthony Newley.....Strawberry fair Lonnie Donegan.....My old man's a dustbin John Leyton.....Johnny remember me Frankie Vaughan......Tower of strength Frank Ifield....I remember you Tommy Steele....What a mouth Marty Wilde.....Rubber ball
June 21, 200718 yr Lonnie Donegan's a bit of a legend and nobody could yodel like Frank Ifield (although why would you want to?)
June 21, 200718 yr Johnny Remember Me is a Joe Meek classic. It still sounds weird. Billy Fury used to have a huge rep but the only song I've ever heard is Long Live Rock on the soundtrack from That'll Be The Day. Adam Faith's Beat Girl was used in Fat Boy Slim's Rockafella Skank  Tommy Steele did Rock With The Caveman which is a lot more authentic rock'n'roll than anything The Artic Monkeys have done
June 21, 200718 yr Tommy Steele did Rock With The Caveman which is a lot more authentic rock'n'roll than anything The Artic Monkeys have done  He also did Little White Bull which isn't
June 21, 200718 yr tbh i dont know what to make of this... they were 'pretty' often themed songs, very dated and rather square.. it was almost 'proto pop'.
