Posted June 26, 200718 yr When did you first become a fan of The Beatles? For me it was when i was a child, I clearly loved music& my parents owned a cassette copy of the Red (1962-1966) & Blue (1967-1970) Compilation albums. John Lennon's Imagine was the first single I ever bought back in early 1981. I got a copy of The Beatles 20 Greatest Hits for my 11th birthday in 1982, and the first CD I got was in 1987 when I got a CD player for my 16th birthday, when the Sgt Pepper's 20th anniversary fell exactly a week beforehand when the album was released on CD for the first time. Since then I have bought all 13 of the Beatles studio albums plus the two Past Masters CDs for the non album tracks, the 3 Anthologies, Live at The BBC, 1, Yellow Submarine Songtrack, Let It Be..Naked & LOVE. I also own all of Paul's studio albums & own the 4CD Lennon Boxset of his solo work. I have been to a Beatles Convention in Liverpool over the August bank holiday & have seen Paul & Ringo live in concert. So when did you become a fan of the Fab Four?
June 27, 200718 yr I've been exposed to them for years since my dad is a huge fan..I don't know how long ago, but I was rather young.
June 27, 200718 yr I guess the first exposure of actually hearing them for myself rather than hearing them on the TV or radio was a battered old cassette of Abbey Road and My Mum's original copy of The White Album. I think the first one I got for myself was a compilation of 20 Love Songs I think. Borrowed that from the library and taped it (Tsk tsk!)
June 28, 200718 yr When I bought Sgt. Pepper I was converted, started collecting other albums from then on :)
June 29, 200718 yr I was about 10 or perhaps 12 years old when I first heard "Yesterday" and "Hey Jude". From that time on they are one of my favourite bands
October 7, 200717 yr Giving my age away I was 10 years old in 1963. sitting in our living room playing with my train set. 'She loves you' came on the radio. It may sound OTT but it was almost a religious experience!!. Id vaguely heard OF them, but not heard their music.(I lived out in the sticks) It was so different at the time. I loved the song first time, saved my pocket money for weeks to buy the single. Couldn't stop taking about them to anyone that would listen.saw them on 'Ready steady go, a few weeks later(first time I'd seen them perform), Me and my sister were so excited we talked about nothing else for ages afterwards!. They appeared on 'sunday night at the london palladium' and the royal variety performance a few weeks after that(both shown on TV), and those concerts propelled them into the public conciousness, the media went wild over them and they have remained there ever since. I don't know if you have spent a lot of time looking around BuzzJack as it is predominantly used by younger members, but if you are into other older acts we have an Elvis Presley Optional Forum & the Retro Forum http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/Retro-f36.html that may interest you.
October 12, 200717 yr I was a late starter in music and was 11 years old when a song called (Just Like) Starting Over entered the charts. I had this small hand held radio and used to listen to Radio Luxembourg ('Cos they played chart countdowns at least twice a week in those days) in bed late at night just to to hear this great song. I didn't realise who the artist was until the day in December that year! It also introduced me to all the great bands of the era...The Police, Blondie, Abba, The Beat, The Jam....Need I go on? I instantly needed to know about John and The Beatles and have been a fan ever since. Just like "thisispop", John's "Imagine" was the first single I personally bought in January 1981...Never looked back since!! :)
October 15, 200717 yr in 2005 i bought the album 1 and became a huge fan.. i didn't listen to the beatles much in the past but i knew some of thei songs (Hey Jude e.g.) my most favourite song is Let it be
January 22, 200817 yr Around '67 my mum bought me my first record: The Beatles, Nowhere Man EP. Shortly after that I got my first album: A Hard Day's Night. And I've been a fan ever since. I was born in London in 1958, so I grew up with The Beatles; they were everywhere, on TV, radio, in the news, and constantly in the charts, so there was no getting away from them. I think it was pretty tough if you didn't like them!

Hey! I thought I was the oldest poster on Buzzjack! Back on topic. I'm actually from Liverpool 3 (and if you know your Liverpool postcodes - you'll know that this is the centre of Liverpool - just off London Road). I suppose being from Liverpool it is bred into you that you have to have some affection for them. I love all their stuff and can't really pin-point when I actually started liking them. However I do recall that it was later, in the 1970's that I really started to decide which stuff I liked better than others. For me - the Revolver album was (and to this day still is) the best they've ever done - yes - even better than the 'White' album. Norma

March 17, 200817 yr My Mom was a HUGE beatles fan (she was lucky enough to go to the shea stadium concert in 65!!) I was in 4th grade when she told me about them (i'm 3 years into college now), the first album i listened to was 'A Hard Days Night' the US version with the instrumentals. I instantly loved it and i would listen to it everyday, then she found her 'Help' album (also the US version), that was even better! after seeing both vids for those albums i became a big fan although i grew out of them for a while I got back into them in HS. I have all the albums on CD, and although i'll always have a place in my heart for AHDN and Help (since they got me into them), Rubber Soul is my all time fav! and This Boy, All My loving, Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields are also some other favorite songs of mine.
March 19, 200817 yr My dad made me listen to the White Album and I loved it Still don't like their earlier stuff but love the White Album / Sgt Pepper era
