The UK's biggest studio albums of all time
I have Peppers, WTSMG, Dark side of the moon and Tubular bells. All purchased the week of release except for Tubular bells. Which I bought about a month after release. (I'm old!). Only one I pre-ordered was Sgt Peppers. (I was 14 years old..I earned 6 shillings(30p ..about £5.30 in Todays money!) a week on my paper round and saved up for the album for 5 weeks. (albums were 30 shillings..£1.50...about £26.50 in todays money!).

Famous bands that would have been dropped these days.
Title says it all. My example is Electric Light Orchestra..(ELO). 5 flop albums, 2 top 40, 3 failed to chart. not much single success except for 2 top tens at the start. Then they released 'A new world record' and that was the first of a string of top 10 albums, including 2 number ones....and a string top ten singles...became one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Whats your example)s)?.

Friday Chart Predictions
Looks possible. seems like the only way to get 3 albums in the top ten is either to die or be called 'Adele'. Amazing success for her and, imo, well deserved.

Chart 'Upsets'
Being old..first I remember is when The Beatles failed to reach number one with "Penny lane/Strawberry fields forever"..pipped by Engelbert Humperdink. I remember being extremely annoyed lol.(I was 14). First time since Please Please me they didn't get the top spot. Made the front page headlines.

Ahh.ok..thanks.. I checked last week and she increased by about 2.2 times, but I think first midweeks then hadn't had the Brit effect much.

Re Adele...I'm just going on the 2.5 times formula based on first midweeks, maybe that isn't relevant any more?.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wednesday Update)
Looks like Adele isn't having to fend of anyone!. Almost 40K against 12k for Jess....Adele on 100K at least by end of week?. Certainly enough to take number one best selling album so far this year.

Friday Chart Predictions
I think the deficit will be down to about 2-3k between Adele and 1975. In favour of 1975. but She's cut a 17k start of week deficit to 8K...Last day sales will be interesting.
