July 15, 200718 yr It makes sense that people are influenced by tabloids because they see it/hear it on a daily basis whereas a music magazine comes out monthly and how many people actually bother to buy them and read it cover to cover ?? Not many. People are bombarded by the tabloid press day in and day out and if people hear the same thing over and over they will start believing it no matter what the source of the info is. The press know this and they try their hardest, like radio stations, to influence people's opinions/tastes. They all have an agenda. With Rudebox the press just completely went on an all out rampage and sadly some people believed them without even hearing out the album or making up their minds based on one single which I've always loved and still do and I think people would not have been that put off by it if the press wouldn't go on relentlessly about how bad it is. The majority of people will usually go with the consensus, so if they hear about how bad it is and how many people supposedly don't like it and what a bomb it is they will believe it and agree even when they do hear it because subconciously their mind has already been made up for them. About She's Madonna, TessaT you're not alone in not liking it. I never liked it much and still don't although I do like it more now than I did when I first heard it. Strangely enough, the video made me like it more :o :D With Lovelight I thought it would be a definite hit but for some reason people didn't take to it. The video, I thought was horrible and though I did like the song it put me off the song a bit ;) That whole album was doomed from the beginning and what a shame as it is one of, if not, the best albums he's ever made. It did remarkably well though, considering the horrible press and no promotion. I still have a very strong feeling the 'swing' album will be released later this year or whatever swing like album he was recently talking about. It'd be better to hold off till next year I think, but for some reason I think something will drop later this year. I do think that the relase of Rudebox as a lead off single was a bad idea....while it is a very good track it's not to everyone's taste & I certainly do not think that it is radio friendly......there are plenty other tracks on the album that cpould have been used...but hindsight is a great thing & I think Rw has realised that as he said himself that he thought it was going to be a hit.I think the main problem with it is that it sttod out too much on it's own...it is so different to anything on mainstream radio & is not the type of track that the DJ's are inclined to play...they want the ballads, etc...I hear the same songs played over & over again until I am sick to the teeth of them., I still think that at another time the album would have done very well but I also think that both Rob himself & his management need to rething their promotion stratagies...they are gone too Web orientated....not everyone is that far ahead yet & I do not think that they realsie that fact.....I think it needs a combination of promo ideas & mainly radio & tv.....people watch a hell of a lot of TV & that is where they fall down with their promotion. I hope that they wait until next year for the Swing....but the rumour is November ( according to Neil Sean - Sky ) ...not sure how good that info is but he is adamant that RW & GC are working together on an album for release later this year...he was most definate but as I say you do not know with Neil...he likes to pretend to know more than he does.... August 14th is the release date for the Dean Martin collab & they are doing a special DVD which shows the making of the album so I presume RW will be in that.......it's advertised on the official DM website....
July 15, 200718 yr I did think he might release the Swing album this year, around Xmas time. All reports actually said at the end of the summer earlier this year infact. However, Rob did say to you T that there would be a gig to promote it, while he said at a recent match that there are no gigs for a long time. Therefor I very much doubt it will be released anytime soon. Albums that are going to be released this year are usually always on the New Release Schedual by now, like I recall EMI annoucing the Rudebox album in May or June, despite it not coming out till the end of October. So I think it will be next year. And Swing is only really suitable to release around Xmas time, so it could be as far away as Xmas 08, but that would'nt annoy me at all as he deserves a long break. ^_^

It could be released lets say at the end of the year and a one off gig or something early next year. He could release an album without any gigs at all and just do some promo too. Anything is possible I suppose. I'd much rather he take the rest of the year off and release an album next year especially if there won't be too much promo but with Rob one never knows. Does every new album HAVE to be on a New Release Schedule ?? I mean if they keep it low key deliberately could it be excluded from it ?
July 17, 200718 yr This whole meet and greet competition from the IS makes me think even more that he will be doing something later this year. I don't think there would be a meet and greet if he would not be working. ..... unless they hold off the actual meet and greet until next year ;)

I don't think there would be a meet and greet if he would not be working. ..... unless they hold off the actual meet and greet until next year ;) Or the year after knowing them  I would've thought they would've flown the winner over to LA, put them up in a 5 star hotel, and then they could spend the day with Robbie. But wait, this is the IS were are talking about is'nt it?
July 17, 200718 yr summer 2008 would be a great time for a new Robbie album i reckon That would be ace. It would make a change from the whole 'the the shops for Christman' thing  But if it is a Swing then it should be released Oct/Nov, as it is suitable and would enjoy the most success around Xmas time.

But wait, this is the IS were are talking about is'nt it? A 5 star hotel ?! They should just put up the winners in Rob's house. I'm sure he has room for 5  And think of all the money they'd save. Just airfare for 5 shouldn't be a problem for the IS ....... no scratch that, I think I'd like to make my own reservations. With the IS. instead of LA the winners might end up in the North Pole
August 10, 200717 yr I listened to Rudebox in full for the first time in ages on my way home from work, and it truely is an amazing album. Every song (even Rudebox itself) each have their own unique brilliance. It is just a bloody great album that is ridiculously under-rated.
August 10, 200717 yr Does the horse and cart have a built in gramophone then? How modern! :o Oh, how very witty you are. :)
