Just heard this on Radio 1, i think its better than her previous solo stuff, but not as good as some of the Moloko singles. Anyone else heard it?

Heard a snip of it, sounded rather tasy- can't beat a bit of 303 squelching! Moloko were great, agreed.
I'm sure Scott means tasty!!! The Seamus Haji mix of this makes it all worth while.

Roisin Murphy commercial dance? err... I'm sure she'd be mortified.

The Kris Menace remix, and especially the totally amazing Seamus Haji mix are a LONG way from commercial dance.... absolutely brilliant return after her disappointing debut album.

Its commercial dance as its played on dance radio. Her album premiered on Pete Tong's show too on Radio 1, and a lot of remixes are played during daytime like Scott Mills, etc. It may be more credible than most commercial dance, but doesnt mean its not commercial, its very accessible dance music to anyone.
It's not just that, Roisin Murphy is a pretty well known name (as were Moloko) and the commercial forum will get more posts anyway...
I loved her song with Boris D'Lugosch 'Never Enough'. Think it was a top 10 hit for Positiva. A complete rarity for them nowadays.

^^made #16 i think. It was a tough week, and I think most dance fans bought Faithleses - We Come One (#3) and Basement Jaxx - Romeo (#6) that week instead

'Commercial dance' is a genre.... not determined by how many plays it gets on Radio One......

Ah I see Roisin Murphy has beomce the first victim of the overground/underground dilemma! Vocally, the song is pretty much pop (pop meaning in the sood variety of course), but musically it's got elements of more niche-style. You can argue it either way really...

'Never Enough' was alright... Yeah Skizzo's right, I remember it missing the top 10 when a lot was riding on it on the strengh of 'Sing It Back'. The Chocolate Puma mix was bloody great.

i'm not too fussed about where she goes tbh. I found it more appropriate here, so I posted the topic here. If too many people want it to be moved, I will.

I wouldn't call it commercial (don't hink it's been produced with pop chart position in mind) but I do think it's accessible for those who aren't particularly into underground dance music - so therefore could be commercially successful - a subtle difference, but a difference nonetheless if you ask me!

Anyway, if you've not heard it yet & want to make up your own mind, check out the track on her Myspace, there’s also a competition to win a signed Roisin poster and goodie bag with copies of the single: click here
