July 3, 200718 yr Author interesting chart... the back end of the 'britpop' boom with some goodies in there, the verve, cast were good. 'modern r&b' as we recognise it was stating to make an impact, puff daddy at #1. the golden age of dance was very well reprisented too.. with some early classics... olive, dj quicksilver and sash! but my fav here is the age of love 'the age of love', superb track :)
July 3, 200718 yr I like... 17 Echo & The Bunnymen .......................Nothing Lasts Forever 35 Finley Quaye ..................................Sunday Shining 38 Teenage Fanclub............................ Ain't That Enough Oh the charts were rather poor back then. Cast had already gone very stale, The Verve were back in Stones-sampling desperation mode, James had lost it completely, Ocean Colour Scene were bizarrely popular and Apollo 440 were reduced to sampling rock tunes and trying to make them sound 'a bit Prodigy'. Yuck.
July 4, 200718 yr I know & like: 2 Sash! featuring Rodriguez ...................Ecuador 4 No Doubt ...........................................Just A Girl 6 The Verve.......................................... July 4, 200718 yr Top 40 Hits of Early July 1997 so man where did you get this chart from? does it have the last weeks pos and the wks on chart at the site you found it? be good to compare it to the chart of now (seeing as gcap, emap and charles allen will ruin it even more with unintersting playlists) I like... 17 Echo & The Bunnymen .......................Nothing Lasts Forever 35 Finley Quaye ..................................Sunday Shining 38 Teenage Fanclub............................ Ain't That Enough Oh the charts were rather poor back then. Yuck. you might not like the tunes but the charts must be better than having nelly, xtina, gwen, fray all charting for 96 consecutive weeks with all the indie kinda tunes getting maybe one week at 32. if released new last week these records would look like this: 96 Echo & The Bunnymen .......................Nothing Lasts Forever 115 Finley Quaye ..................................Sunday Shining 200 Teenage Fanclub............................ Ain't That Enough
July 4, 200718 yr Well, Teenage Fanclub and Finlay wouldn't even hit the top 200 but I like to think Echo and the Bunnymen would still have had a big hit as that song is a classic. I think Rob used this site - http://www.everyhit.com/retros/index.php
