Remember the band Garbage? Well they have a new greatest hits album coming out July 17th called “Absolute Garbage”. I used to listen to them a while back and totally forgot about them. At umg another intern gave me their greatest hits and i fell in love with their classic songs all over again. I especially love Shirley Manson and her vocals. Seriously check them out at myspace.com/garbage

They definitely wrote some good, moody pop songs. I never got the chance to get past their singles.
Absolute Garbage pretty much sums up this greatest hits era for them. :(

I hate to admit it but that's actually true... Absolute Garbage's chart run in the UK 11-27-59-78 - cannot get any more disasterous than that.

From fans prospective though we got soooo much - a completely new vedeo, new single + 2 really good B-sides, some freshly sounding remixes, a long-awaited DVD collection (although not complete) with some really amusing documentary as a bonus, a limitted edition of the whole greatest hits package. That's actually more than the usual c**p you receive when a Greatest Hits album is being released.

Still the whole AG era leaves me with bitter thoughts.

Oddly enough I still may buy it but the only song I even remotely like from the track listing is "The World Is Not Enough" really...

So practicly you don't like any of their singles since The World Is Not Enough is their only single not written by them (David Arnold).

They don't ow us nothing; I'm glad that they released a GH with a new song, 2 b-sides, some remixes and of course the DVD. The chart run was a disaster indeed. A lot of fans predicted the falling like a brick of AG (main reason: poor promotion). If you have the right promotion you can sell anything (e.g. Mika, Fergie, Timberlake  )

On the other side, in 2008 they will create/release the 5th album not counting the solo album of Shirley...

I don't know why Shirley is bothering going solo  Unless she plans on some radical musical departure.
I can see any solo effort from Shirley being plagues by the same problems as the Garbage GH. No promotion and not enough airplay for the single.
I can see it suffering an Andrea Corr-esque case of being severely underwhelming as an album, but with decent singles that probably wont be promoted anyway.

Yes sad but true.
