Why isn't Rob there on? Haven't his last big Tours 2003 und 2006 grossed both in excess of 100m each? And his solo tours 1999 and 2001 have been huge too.. I would even say that the Close Encounters tour has even grossed more than 200m. I think this tour was bigger (more viewers and ticket sales) than Madonnas last tour which grossed OVER 200m..

Those figures can't be correct.

Unless being Billboard some of the concerts had to be in the US or the whole Tour was ignored.

Yep, like most of these sort of tour lists, Rob never gets inculded because he does'nt tour the US. They don't seem to care, despite the fact that there are very few US acts (if any at all) who are capable of selling out stadiums all over the world as fast as Robbie does. Madonna did'nt even sell out the Millenium stadium on her last tour, whilst Rob sold 5 nights at Wembley out in a few hours.

Rob never ever gets credit when it comes to tour success. What is this list based on, a single tour or all of these acts tours combined together? As I don't recall U2 playing to 10m people on any tour. The Close Encounters tour had an average ticket price of about £40-£50, whilst Madonna charged hundreds, so grossed alot more, but then again her Confessions tour, she only played to 1.2m people over 60 dates gorssing $201m, whilst Rob's CE tour he played to 3.5 million people with only 59 shows and broke so many world records in the process. It crossed about £150m, so $340m, so he would surely be top 10 for that alone? Where is the rest of the list?

If it is the total amount of tours's success since 96 then it is just plain wrong as Rob has played to near 7m people since 97, and grossed ALOT. His last two tours he sold 5m tickets, at an average of lets say £40-£50, but some more expensive, lets just say both tours combined crossed at least between £200-£250m. Then their is all his other tours, and one off apperences, the total amounts to near 7m. His earlier tours would've charged less for tickets, so perhaps an averege of £30? So that comes to around about £60m for before 2003. So about £300m from going by that method. That is over $604m so there is no reason for him not to be there. He should be #3 :smoke:

You are right Scotty, I do recall reading that Robbie had an entry in the Billboard biggest income tour for Mexico alone, he entered that because of both Mexico and South America counting to the North American tours..so I would say Billboard just don't know what he achieves in Australia and Europe, or if they do ignore it.

Maybe I will put them right, do they have a "contact us" link..if so I will drop them a line or two, or three, maybe even four. :naughty:

its ridiculous that Billboard ignores the world biggest topuring act of this century/decade.. only because he's not american or successful in the US! RW gets no credits for his achievements..

hes the overall 2nd best selling male solo artist of this century (#1 is Eminem, EM still lead with 15-20m in front) and obviously the biggest touring act!

It's Billboard, they dont focus on anything outside America!

Absolutelly. It makes no sence and it is infuriating. On UKMIX, they said it's because he is irrelivent in the US. <_<

We all know the truth though. So far this century, no-one has had as much touring success as Rob. He played to 1.1m on his 2001 tour, 1.7m on his 2003, and 3.5m on his 2006. Average ticket prices would've varied between tours, with the 2006 being most expensive, but even if we go at the least amount the tickets would've cost, which was about £30 (but probebly only that cheap on the 2001 tour), that's still amounts to at least $300m.

Thanks Scotty for the contact us link..on the case. I think it will be a bit more than a few words though. lol.

I am going to get to the bottom of this, and email them the proof of how Rob should be #3, ie the most successful solo touring act since 1996. -_-

I went onto IE Music's website, and it said that when he broke the Guinness World record in Nov 2005 for selling 1.6m tickets in a single day, those tickets amounted to £80m. So when you work that out, that means the average ticket was £50 for the tour. There for the remaining 1.9m tickets which later went on sale and sold out would've totled to £95m - so £175m is how much the tour grossed., so at least $350m. That is just the Close Encounters Tour ALONE :o

So now, the 2003 tour sold a little under 1.7m tickets, now those tickets would've no doubt been cheaped, so lets say £35-£40, so at least £60m for that, so at least $120m. So for his last two tours alone he has sold 5.2m tickets and grossed at least $470m. So his 2003 and 2006 tours alone put him at #4. Now his 2001 tour sold 1.1m tickets, and they would've been cheaper again, so lets day £30 on average - so £33m, so near $70m. That's already $540m for just those three tours. That is'nt counting his 1999 UK/Ireland tour where he played to 220,000 people (confirmed on IE Music website), his very first tour in 1997 to 50,000 people accross Europe, or the 315,000 + who saw him in the UK in late 2000, as well as all his other tours.

It's pretty clear he has made at least $600m from his tours and should be #3. <_<

I wonder if they factor in concession sales like tshirts and programmes and such? I would think that would be counted, right?

No, I think it's just tickets for this. Considering how expensive the tour programme along with T-shirts etc are at gigs, Rob has probebly made billions

You get on the case Sherlock. Tell them you're seriously displeased. And that I'm incandescent with rage.
