July 15, 200717 yr TBH Prince has done the best thing with this deal, he's getting £1 million for the privelage of them giving away the album To make that much money back in CD sales he'd have to sell at least a couple of hundred thousand albums I don't think it should chart though because it's free and people are buying a paper not a cd Edited July 15, 200717 yr by blade699
July 15, 200717 yr Author I really like the album it is certainly better than 3121 & is arguably as good as Musicology. It is less R'n'B and more pop/rock orientated. Revelation, Chelsea Rodgers & The 1 U Wanna C are my favourite tracks.
July 15, 200717 yr The album is actually really good :o  I wonder what position the actual album with chart at next Sunday after it is released tomorrow. I doubt it will be a good one.
July 15, 200717 yr your wrong. it was 2004's Musicology that was given with the tickets. Yeah, I remembered wrong. 3121 was with the seven hidden tickets and Musicology was the one that everyone buying a ticket to his concert was forced to buy. And therefore the average ticket price for that tour was something like $61 which is quite a lot for a US tour. And to think what kinda flop the album would have been without those forced sales since the tour had 96 dates and the total sales of the album in the USA is under 2m.
July 15, 200717 yr The 'Paper paid Prince £500,000 for the right to give away his Album, not £1 Million. It works out at about $1,017,252.60. It is estimated that the 'Paper could lose as much as £250,000 on the deal - $508,626.30. Is the CD actually going to get a UK release - in Stores, I mean? I hear that Sony BMG say they now see no point in launching the CD here, as they feel that the copies in the, 'Mail On Sunday', have ruined the chance for it to get decent Sales in UK Stores.

Why did the Mail do the deal if they were going to lose a quarter of a million? And yes it is being released tomorrow I think. There is a big advertisment for it on the back of this months 'Q' Magazine. So he is spending alot of money advertising it,
July 15, 200717 yr The album is not getting released in the UK. Eveywhere else will get it though Really? I wonder why there is a full page advertising it's release on the back of the UK's biggest selling music magazine.
July 15, 200717 yr BTW if you are in N Ireland and you haven't got it yet the Irish MOS also has the giveaway - and its only a pound!
July 15, 200717 yr This album is'nt released till July 24th in the US, so you could actually make money by selling it on ebay.

July 15, 200717 yr Can anyone tell me the UK sales for 3121? i think its sold about 80,000 in uk alone. 500,000 worldwide (around late 2006)
July 15, 200717 yr Big publicity stunt. I don't think anyone is taking the request for it to be counted seriously. I can't see the MOS caring if the OCC think the offer and request is a joke. They don't need the respect of the OCC, but if SBMG were seriously annoyed with the deal, they could withdraw their artists from doing interviews. Not that I think anyone cares that much, apart from using it as an opportunity to make some noise.
July 15, 200717 yr i think its sold about 80,000 in uk alone. 500,000 worldwide (around late 2006) Thank you. I thought he hadn't sold that many in the UK but I'm more shocked at his worldwide sales. :o There's only one winner here, Prince, he's no mug.
July 16, 200717 yr i think its sold about 80,000 in uk alone. 500,000 worldwide (around late 2006) Actually it had sold near 1.5m globally at the end of 06, 500,000 in the US alone. Doubt it sold much since then though.
July 16, 200717 yr I don't think the album should be included in the charts if they are given away in newspapers. It gives an inaccurate chart reading particularly when the album is potentially being sold for such a low price and alot of people who bought the paper might not necessarily even listen to the album.
