Posted July 15, 200717 yr If 'Umbrella' had never been released, we would have had : Fergie 1 week at #1 (probably) Kate Nash 2 weeks at #1 Lee Mead 1 week at #1 White Stripes 1 week at #1 Mutya Buena 2 weeks at #1 Maroon 5 2 weeks at #1 What do you prefer? And why? http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/61asRuS2zFL._AA240_.jpg or http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/11RFNk4JIWL._AA90_.jpg http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/11enF0lMxCL._AA90_.jpg http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/1138BvWN0yL._AA90_.jpg http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/11pWtJALajL._AA90_.jpg http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/01yRoXVBxoL._AA90_.jpg http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/113Y0mxPdoL._AA90_.jpg
July 15, 200717 yr Well as much as I woulda loved to see Fergie and Kate Nash get #01, we also woulda got Lee Mead and White Stripes at #01 <_<
July 15, 200717 yr Author I love 'Umbrella', but I would rather have Maroon 5, Mutya and White Stripes at #1... Only the Lee Mead single is vile :puke2:
July 15, 200717 yr Sales have declined so fast since 'Umbrella's release actually :o They were doing really well at the start of the year but are not getting less and less each week despite all the really good tracks out atm. TBH I'd rather none of those songs top the chart - the only exception being Kate Nash and possibly Fergie. Mutya's song got boring fast as did Whitestripes, Lee Mead is downright awful and Maroon 5 are bland in a can.
July 15, 200717 yr But you don't necessarily know those would have got to #01 if "Umbrella" hadn't been released. Other songs would have got airplay/videoplay in "Umbrella"'s place, people might have bought something different on the week of "Umbrella"'s release as they may have had more money or by luck and those songs may not have necessarily been those which were stuck at #02 behind Rihanna. Record companies may have put songs forward as there wasn't as much competition from Rihanna. Basically NOTHING would necessarily have been the same had "Umbrella" not been released so you can't guarantee those songs WOULD have been #01 had it not been released...

July 15, 200717 yr Well I'm still not bored with Umbrella! (Yet), Just want it to make 10 weeks at number 1 ,to beat 'Crazy', hate that song!
July 15, 200717 yr I must say I'm a huge Rihanna fan and I love ''Umbrella'', but it really is beginning to grate on me now :(
July 15, 200717 yr White Stripes...Lee Mead...Maroon 5....I think the Rhianna has done the UK a HUGE favour.
July 15, 200717 yr It has always been a shame that Maroon 5 's Makes Me Wonder has just reached number 2.... so I voted the second one
July 15, 200717 yr I'm very glad Maroon 5 and Lee Mead were denied. And on Physicals only Lee Mead would have been #1 last week.
July 15, 200717 yr Considering The White Stripes, Maroon 5, and Kate Nash would have got #1, the second choice. Definitely. *doesn't get the White Stripes hate as they are clearly more talented then Rihanna =/*
July 15, 200717 yr Would have liked Mutya to have had 2 weeks at no.1 and Fergie to have been no.1 but overall im glad Rihanna has done it
July 16, 200717 yr Umbrella = Better than all the other songs put together (even in one mega mix, 30-minute single).
