I very much doubt they did know Susie. They didn't seem the brightest.

I mean that one who said he tried to adopt Robbie's personality and had girls running after him all over town (when he looked more like Robbie Coltrane than Robbie Williams  )- he was just sinking deeper and deeper into mockery. The interviewer was really taking the p*ss and he didn't seem to have a clue...

You really can't guess what they were told. And a programme can be edited any which way.

And as for poor old Norman.........

I must admit I laughed hysterically for about the first 3/4 of it. It was IMO far too stupid to be damaging.

The only part I was uneasy about was the Irish Guy and his 'Angels' story. I was being taken in a bit until he went onto the 'then Robbie tried to sh*g me' story and I thought 'you're as much of a glory seeking clown as the rest on this show'.

Have you complained to Channel 5 yet?

Oh heavens..it sounds appalling. :puke2: Lets hope Mr G Public sees it for what it was. A cheap low attack on one of the worlds shining stars. Jealousy really is unattractive  .

No not yet Jupiter but I will and you can bet it will be a humdinger.

Words just flow when I am angry and I am more than a bit angry about it, especially their manipulation of poor old Norman Wisdom.

I did laugh at your comment about that Robbie copy looking more like Robbie Coltrane. None of them looked or sounded like him and they get paid. Jeez

Is there not an old saying

'Those who can, do. Those who can't, become journalists and criticise those who can'

Here's my intellectual take on things (boring I'm sure)

This country of ours has a definite problem with success (and not just the press). We as a nation seem to be quite happy to support people but only up until they reach a certain level. Then we adopt a 'who do they think they are' mentality. We start to want them to fail and for them to start sliding back down the greasy poll. I think it's called the 'Tall Poppy Syndrome'.

The Press are the primary instigators of the 'nobody shall become too successful' mentality. Robbie is just currently far too successful for them (and a lot of the people in the UK). Maybe it's jealousy, maybe something else. I don't know.

But rather than say 'Hey, Robbie is the biggest star we've got. Let's support him as much as we can and promote him internationally' we instead get ' Who does he think he is? Lets do our damndest to belittle him, ridicule him, slander him. Oh and when we've accomplished that, lets attack someone else'.

It would never happen in the US (or most other countries). We just seem to be a very cynical lot. And I don't find it particularly endearing. :(

When Robbie left Take That and was striking out on his own it was seen as 'cool' to like him. Journos always like 'cool'. But when you reach a certain level of success you can no longer be 'cool'. So then the knives come out.

And the knives will stay out (probably until he fades into obscurity). But then when he makes a comeback (or dies :( ) he'll be a 'legend' and totally 'cool' again. It's pathetic but that's the way of it......

You do have a point there Jupiter. I agree with your saying.
