Too knackered to go into depth but they were simply AWESOME :cheer: :cheer:

Take Your Mama Out was simply mesmerising performance but Scissor Sisters put on an incredible show ^_^

Same! I am shattered but that was AMAZING! The crotch put was genius! 30,000 in the O2 and we had our own special area for 50 people! This sums it up:

Link won't work :(

Was that that bit for the 50 people right by the stage in between the 2 walkways ? there was a few people in that section who were let in just before the Scissor Sisters came on stage and those in that section danced more than everyone else, how did you manage to get into that section lol ?

Lucky you ^_^

Did you see anyone from BJ there ?

Jake was almost Freddie Mercury-esque in his stage presence and putting on a show :o

It should work! If not, search for Scissor Sisters crotch on myspace! Don't wanna youtube it. Eek!

And yeah, it was that bit. We were all let in to it at about 8.45! You had to email to be in with a chance of winning, but I got in cos I know their photographer and he knew how mad we all were! We danced non stop! I was exhausted!

I was with Nicky (Grandwicky) and my mate Tom who posts on BJ was also there!

Aah nice one lucky you lol that was a right result, yeah that section seemed to be the most lively section everyone was like dancing all night lol, I was sorta near the side of the stage on the left hand side

I have a chance to go Saturday too, am soooooooooooo tempted after tonight

f*** that was good show they put on :o

I know! We all went mad when they started playing 'Return to Oz'! They haven't done that live in about 2 years!

The setlist was pretty near perfect though the new version of filthy/gorgeous needs to go! Hideous!

That was my first (definitely won't be last no way) time have seen them live so I have nothing to compare them against in terms of previous shows but that was one of the best live shows have seen in a long long time right up there with the best ever I have been to, the whole atmosphere was amazing, everyone from pensioners to like 6 year olds were having a great time and the whole build up of the dozens of plastic footballs being bashed about and the mexican waves etc the whole night had almost a carnival atmosphere about it

Even that support (Jamaican ?) act I was impressed with and I generally hate support bands with a passion

S C I S S O R S I S T E R S OH YES!!!!!!!!!!

 :cheer:

I can't believe we actually got into the crotch pit! It was so mad being so close :o (I was so close I touched Jake!) and we had so much room to jump around and dance too  Craig, if you saw any people wearing loads of glow sticks within the crotch pit that was us :P Music Is A Victim, Kiss You Off, Take Your Mama, Return To Oz, Mary and of course I Don't Feel Like Dancin' (how many times did we sing the intro to that  ) were the highlights for me!

Oh and I even got an AMAZING Ana t-shirt at the merchandise afterwards too

I loved that I got everyone to do the IDFLD guitar intro! I'm so tempted to try my luck tonight. I best be in that pit tomorrow though! :o

And don't make me regret not buying that Ana shirt! :(

Whereabouts were you, shiv?

Wow!!! You blagged your way into the crotch pit?? Nice!!! It did look amazing in there!!

We were at the barrier, maybe just to the right of centre, so we had a great view anyway! Would have loved to have had all that space to dance around in the crotch pit though!! Best gig ever!! :cheer:

First Night: Scissor Sisters, The O2 Arena, London

Venue transformed into biggest disco in the world

By Pierre Perrone

Published: 27 July 2007

While Scissor Sisters could only have come together in the Big Apple, their hedonistic mix of disco, electro and glam could only have gotten into the mainstream via the UK.

It's testament to how popular the campest group since Frankie Goes To Hollywood have become that they are playing as many nights at London's newest, brand-spanking venue as superstar Barbra Streisand, with three dates at the Manchester Evening News arena to follow next week.

The Sisters' ascension to the pop firmament coincided with the Guilty Pleasures phenomenon but the band, led by Jake Shears, have so far managed to avoid the cheesiness of Radio 2 favourites The Feeling, Mika and The Hoosiers.

Given that they started out playing New York parties, it's no surprise the Sisters' attention to detail extends to having DJ Jammy Jo, a long-time associate, play uplifting tracks either side of the unlikely support by Amadou And Mariam. The wife and husband duo from Mali make the most of the chance to introduce their infectious and danceable Afro-pop to a new, cross-gender, cross-generation audience.

So far, so good. Scissor Sisters bounce onand open with "She's My Man" from Ta-dah, their second album which has sold 1.2 million copies in the UK since release last year.

Shears wears a glittery, backless jumpsuit and is already doing press-ups but I wasn't expecting Babydaddy and Del Marquis to end with a twin guitar lick worthy of Thin Lizzy. Sadly, the underwhelming "I Can't Decide" is pure Leo Sayer cornball, saved only by a high-kick routine.

With her big red hair and frou-frou white dress, Ana Matronic looks like she's just stepped off the set of Russ Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and announces "It ain't a party until the kids come out" as a prelude to the risqué "t*ts on the Radio".

"Laura", the first single the band released in 2003, has Shears' falsetto drifting into Michael Jackson-style "sh-mon" territory. Even the dads are starting to dance.

The funky "Lights" proves a revelation, making the most of the horn section and proving that, despite the absence of drummer Paddy Boom, the band are tighter than ever.

The wide array of styles which has made Scissor Sisters such a consensus act with housewives, hen parties and the GAY crowd can be bewildering but it's also their major strength, demonstrated on a blistering run of tracks from their debut, the highlight of which is "Take Your Mama".

Jokes at the expense of the Swiss, Streisand and the Vatican go down well and show the band are in as much of a party mood as their fans. By the time they climax with "Filthy/ Gorgeous" and encore with "I Don't Feel Like Dancing", they have turned the venue into the biggest disco in the world.

Filthy but gorgeous Scissor Sisters

Scissor Sisters (O2 Arena)

They are the bad taste band who came good. But Scissor Sisters almost went too far last night, daring to mock the legend that is Barbra Streisand.

At the first of three shows following Streisand at the 20,000- capacity O2, the irreverent New Yorkers transcended their slightly tacky inspirations – early disco, glam rock and James Bond themes - to put on a highly entertaining spectacle.

Of course, it helped that London is both their 'second' and 'spiritual' home, as the vocalist Ana Matronic explained.

But there was a bit of a wobbly start on She's My Man: frontman Jake Shears was pumped-up and doing press-ups, but the sound was underpowered.

Fortunately, they soon found their feet.

As well as being evident in the Seventies-sounding music, bad taste was even more apparent in their on-stage antics.

After inviting fans to be in the "crotch pit" between those legs, a grinning Matronic told them they represented a nasty infection of the band's nether regions. Nice.

When they focused on the music, the results were often astounding, especially during Laura and Take Your Mama.

Still, there were moments when it felt almost shockingly saucy.

Did I really see Matronic prostrate during Music Is The Victim, with guitarist Del Marquis straddling her?

The real controversy came when Shears said he'd been to see Streisand the night before.

"She came on 10 minutes late, then she sang for 10 minutes in a threehour show," said Shears with much exaggeration.

He mocked Streisand for hiring "gay friends from New York" to sing her songs when she wasn't on stage.

Suddenly, the atmosphere dipped during the newer material, while Streisand fans shouted at me demanding that I record their disapproval of Shears's remarks.

He won them back with the disco brilliance of Comfortably Numb and the band topped that with a rave take on Filthy/Gorgeous.

Mary was dedicated to drummer Paddy Boom, absent following the death of his mother, while the encore of I Don't Feel Like Dancin' ended the show with a party atmosphere.

With the arena transformed into a giant dancefloor, no one can express the pure joy of pop like Scissor Sisters.

However, Shears's final skimpy outfit - a pair of sequin pants and braces - was almost too much to endure.

They messed that up! She said t*ts, not kids!
