Banning Camera Phones/Phones on school grounds is pratically impossible, stupid, and will never work. Most "bullying" that appears on youtube dosnt even come from school grounds, mainly outside on streets,

Not impossible at all, the school sends home letters to parents explaining why they are being banned and what the consequences are for non-compliance. There was a good "Panorama" programme on about this last night and a Judge came up with a good solution - to make it a criminal offence to upload images of actual violent assaults. I would be in total favour of that tbh...

And to be honest I don't agree banning camera phones is the way to go or other. Do you really think these young little $h!ts only perform acts of violence if a camera phone is out? I doubt it. If these morons are stupid enough to do these sorts of things anyway, I doubt a camera phone ban is going to stop them, they'll be bast*rds whatever.

That may be true, but the evidence that I saw last night on "Panorama" was that these little sh!ts with their mobile phones were actually directing the violence and inciting the perpetrators to commit ever more violent acts so that it could be filmed. One was even heard saying "This is gonna look great on You Tube"... No, sorry, the only way to really put a stop to this is to ban camera phones for anyone under 18, AND bring in a criminal offence of Uploading images of GBH and bullying, because as far as I'm concerned these b/astards with their phones filming it and uploading it are just as guilty as the people actually committing the acts.. What I saw certainly aint the sorts of fights that I remember in my schooldays, what's going on now is bloody sinister and really disturbing..

But how do you prove it ? how can someone be traced ?

A smart person would use a proxy / anon browser that masks IP address or have an account with AOL where the IP changes with every page refresh for uploading images of assaults, it would be unpoliceable

In terms of camera phones I am just generally against the banning culture full stop, anything that is available in shops is potentially harmful in the wrong hands so simply banning things because a tiny minority abuse things is not something that I advocate.

I don't think schoolkids need mobiles other than for maybe safety reasons but I believe in freedom of choice

I have seen quite a few music videos and TV show clips where YouTube have removed them for "violating the terms of service" or whatever, so as others have said, there is NO reason why the happy slapping clips should slip through the net.

.

Absolutely correct, they dont have any problems springing into action and pulling a vid when some record company or Film/TV execs get their lawyers to "have a word", but when people actually in the Community flag stuff as Being "Inappropriate", they seem to take no action, or seem very slow to do so in comparison... I think that if a law came in to ban people from uploading graphic images of violent assaults then it would be taken a lot more seriously by sites like "You Tube".. And I think that if companies started hitting them where it hurts and pulled advertising space from their sites if they dont do something proactive about these bullying vids, that would certainly have the desired effect also...

Not really, you have to register with YouTube before you can post or upload a video, YouTube could be compelled by law to give registration information to the police... I also think that YouTube should be fined for every violent bullying video on its site that it refuses to take down after someone complains about it... There really are no excuses why You Tube cannot have a moderating team to police the site themselves...

And what about the freedom of choice for the kids who want to learn to have lessons uninterrupted by fukkin' "Crazy Frog" or whatever other sh!t ringtone going off every five minutes...? Sorry, it is unacceptable, I have friends who are teachers and they are honestly being driven to despair by stupid little fukkers actually taking calls and sending texts in lessons.. A school has every right in the world to insist that kids behave in a certain way on school premises and restrict certain actions because they are potentially disruptive.. Mobile phones would almost certainly fit into this category, and therefore should be banned from school grounds IMO, to hell with parental objections, you want to contact little Johnny or little Jenny, phone the fukkin' School office...

Thats a better idea then banning kids in school using mobiles,

If a school bans kids from using there phones, what do they do? Most of them will make sure they bring in there phone everyday and flash it about as much as they can in front of other student/teachers etc.

Banning phones will just encourage the use of them.

Very good point Josh

I do not know how much things have changed from my school days but certainly in my schooldays if teachers or headmasters banned something or ordered us not to do something it made us all the more determined to do it just to spite them and to look cool infront of mates.

Banning phones from schools would likely encourage their use all the more

Which is why the punishment for persistent offenders should be all the more severe... Bringing back the cane would probably help... A bit of public humiliation in front of the whole school would be just the thing if you ask me... Harsh..? Yes, it is, but things are just SO bad in schools today that I think going a bit "medieval" is really the only way for these little b/astards to learn right from wrong... At the end of the day, kids are just like dogs, punishing them is the only way for the message to get through... You wouldn't let your dog sh!t in your living room after all would you...?

Oh I think there is a definite connection between the abolition of the cane in schools and the increasing lack of discipline among students but times have changed since our day Scott

Getting the cane now would be seen as a "badge of honour" in the same way as a chav treats an ASBO i.e something to be proud of so I don't think bringing back the cane would make much difference now as unruly kids would simply use it as something to gloat about infront of their mates

Oh I completely agree with your last point. I'm not too sure how easy it would be in practice to track down ALL the guilty parties, but I doubt ALL of them would be clever enough to be able to hide their account details etc. We'd get at least SOME of them, which is much better than nothing, and it also does send out a message that the issue IS being taken seriously, which right now it isn't.

Whatever, YouTube does need to come up with a better system than the "Flagging", flagging alone does not stop these videos being posted; they're simply a token measure not a solution by any means.

The problem with that is it puts teachers/staff at more risk than ever. How many of these gob$h!tes do you think would actually just stand there and allow themselves to be hit with a cane? The majority maybe would be stunned into behaving in the short term, but they'll likely be a few who'll decide to take action to "defend" themselves... The authority of the teachers alone just isn't enough of a deterrent to assure full compliance.

And if that fails film it on a mobile and post in on youtube :w00t: a bit of revenge for the school, ;)

So, Craig, your answer is what....? To just let the situation continue??? Sorry mate, but I really DO believe that bringing back the old "Headmaster Ritual" will make things a lot better in the long run mate... Perhaps we should also bring back the "Borstal" system as well for the worst offenders, okay, that system did have its problems (as outlined in the still incredibly powerful drama "Scum"), but with the benefit of hindsight, we know what those were, and can make sure the same mistakes are not made now... But something proactive surely has to be done mate....

That would be a tad hypocritical though Bri.... ;)

Even though there would be something a bit poetic about it also....

Yeah special schools should be created for disruptive pupils in each county that will be run by like ex military people who would rule with an iron fist, as well as lessons there will also be stuff like having to scrub floors with toothbrushes and that kind of thing and also squarebashing to keep them in line, there would be one of these in every local authority and purely a place for the dregs of education to be taken out of the mainstream system and be taught with rigid discipline

Not sure that "ex-military" types would be qualified to actually teach though Craig.... Nah, it should still be qualified teachers doing it, but it should be the sorts of teachers that you and me had when we were at school.... The archeypal terrifying, authoritarian Headmaster and the "Psycho PE Teacher" that made Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann from "Full Metal Jacket" look like a teddybear.... What is needed is 50s/60s style teaching in these "special schools" you talk of, NOT necessarily "square bashing".. Why does everything have to be associated with the sodding military with you Craig...? As if that institution is completely morally without reproach....? <_<

What I meant Scott was that they should be put under the command of people they will be $h!t scared of and would not dare step out of line, current teachers do not scare unruly kids but an ex drill instructor with teaching qualifications for instance bellowing into their ears with his face 12 inches away would put the fear of god into them that is the kinda thing, I give military as an example of the type of scary authoritarian figures that would keep them inline.

And again instead of playing basketball or football in PE lessons I would have them doing assault courses and climbing ropes and being made to run miles and miles until they can take no more, maybe squarebashing was the wrong term to use but certainly the regime should be as tough as hell for them and the fear of going to such a place might make kids in the mainstream education think twice if they know how scary this type of school would be

I think you could specifically train people to be this particular type of teacher... Teachers were trained to be these scary authoritarian figures in the past, the old style could be brought back again...

Bringing back the old "Cross Country Run" in the wind and rain seems like a great idea... It's character building....
