Premature babies only survive by medical means Rob, ie, incubators... Without inubators, they wouldn't survive outside the womb, simple as, the incubator acts in more or less the same way a mother's womb does, that's the whole point, until incubators premature babies simply did NOT survive... Okay, just for the sake of arguement, let's say that anything up to seven months is a Foetus, after that, the lines do blur a bit, but I simply dont accept that they are fully a "mini human" or whatever, because they still cannot exist without some kind of intervention whether in the womb itself or by medical means...

So killing a baby in an incubator is okay, and killing a person who needs artificial help to breathe is okay too...???

There are cases of babies born with 5 or 6 months of pregnancy and still survived with perfect health. How will we stablish a cutline between foetus/human being??? A foetus is not different then a human being, it´s just a STAGE of the human being, just like children, adolescent, adult, old, etc.

I dont disagree with abortion.

I think after a certain time it should not be allowed, sometimes you hear of them having to break limbs off the babies to get them out and I think that is disgusting.

But nobody should be made to have a baby if they dont want it

and then its alright saying Well they should have taken more care not to get pregnant.

well everyone makes mistakes and slips up on things.

Everyone has unprotected sex at some point

Absolute rubbish Craig.. There are children's homes FULL of kids who nobody wants mate... Try telling that to them... <_<

And try sayng to this children that it would have been better if they mothers aborted them... how many of them would have chose that???

All this mysoginistic talk is bull$h!t... The most interested people in aborption are MEN, who are usually the ones who make pressure over their partners/eventual sex object, cause they don´t want the responsibilities of having a baby. A woman who is pregnant has her body and her brain BIOLOGICALLY (and not religiously) conditioned to have a baby. It´s an earthquake of hormones, it´s not something natural for a woman to discard the baby since her natural/animal instincts would be do anything to protect it. Men don´t have any hormonal or biological change when their partners are pregnant, which makes it a lot easier for them to discard the baby and get rid of the responsabilities. It´s only men who get benefited from aborption, so that they can use their sexual objects a.k.a. women and still don´t have worries with the resposabilities of it. It´s only women who get ruined by it, making a choice pressured by their family and partners but against her own instincts, and then watching her partner walk away as if nothing happens while she takes all the biological and psycologic vile consequences of the act for the rest of her life.

Bloody hell, I've never seen so many ridiculous assumptions in one paragraph. Or maybe I've just mis-read what you said, I hope so.

All men view women as only "sexual objects"?

All men benefit from abortion?

All women are pressured into abortion by men and families?

Women are the only ones affected at all by their unborn child being aborted?

I know this is supposed be a place for in-depth discussion, but I really only have one thing to say to this. BOLLOCKS.

Brilliantly put Shoat....

When you consider that the majority of anti-abortionists are men, and the majority of Pro-Choice advocates are women, it kind of destroys most of JJN's ridiculous assumptions...

Where Does Life Begin? At fertilzation

"The fusion of the sperm (with 23 chromosomes) and the oocyte (with 23 chromosomes) at fertilization results in a live human being, a single-cell human zygote, with 46 chromosomes—the number of chromosomes characteristic of an individual member of the human species."

Remove to word "all" from all the phrases cause I didn´t make such generalization... Then you start to read properly.

Do you have statistics???? Lol, that´s bull$h!t, there are anti-aborptionist who are female, and pro-death people who are male aswell. I want to see statistics... In my country, the vast majority of women are against aborption, and almost 90% are against legalization of unborn homicide.

Ohhh nooo, that´s just catholic bull$h!t... Life begins when we decide it begins, that´s 7 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, 2 hours and 55 seconds after the conception... Before that, it´s just a parasite. 1/2 month later, it´s a full human being and if you kill him you´ll be charged for murder...

ehh where do you get Catholic from??, its taken from the morning after pill website, and the link I provided is from the international journal of sociology, and is based on SCIENTIFIC evidence from doctors & scientist etc. Its got absolute nuthin to do with religon!!

Just because some silly girls/boys see it as a form of contraception, it doesn't mean it should be banned for all. These Pro life people seem to enjoy digging up stories like this just to try and force everyone else to follow them. Why can't it be a case of people minding their own business and focusing on their own lives? If don't agree with abortions then don't have one, don't try and enforce your belief on the rest of the country. You wouldn't like it if someone did it to you.

Let the girls learn their own lesson. If they have twenty abortions and their bodies cave in and they discover that they're infertile when they're ready to turn their act around, then that's their burden to bear. Why should a twenty yr old woman in a loving relationship who is aiming for a high flying career, and she does use contraception but something prevented it from working, have to pay for some stupid teens mistake? It's not fair.

Strange title for a thread. Epidemic? Is abortion catching, like flu? Surely it's a teen pregnancy epidemic (except you can't catch pregnancy either). Teen pregnancy increase? Not really, teenage pregnancy has been the norm through most of human history. It's amazing to me that there aren't more teenage pregnancies (it's currently only 26 per 1,000 births). One might almost say it's not natural…

100% in total agreement... These "Pro Life" idiots would see us return back to the bad old days of backstreet abortionists mutilating young girls.. Yeah, cos THAT is so much better than a clinical, medical procedure in the safe environment of a hospital or clinic.....

Everyone goes on about "backstreet abortionists mutilating teenage girls" but there is no reason for anyone to need to visit these places, unmarried pregnancy is not the social stigma it was in Victorian times there is no reason why anyone should not go full term, if the teenage mum can't handle the baby then give it to the grandparents to look after or put it up for adoption.

..And then in 15/20 years have a total stranger turn up on your doorstep and say "hi mum"??? Mate, you just refuse to see that there are obviously very important factors that go into the decisions that people make, and you have no right to make any kind of judgement call on these girls whatsoever. Your sanctimonious, Pro-Life claptrap is just so typical of someone who just has no clue of what reality is for these girls and women....

Nevertheless backstreet abortionists will be visited and pregnancies will be terminated if abortion is made illegal. "Reason" doesn't always come in to it.

Yeah, dump it on the grandparents. What if there aren't any alive, or to be found?

My sister had a baby at the age if sixteen. It was put up for adoption. I didn't realise at the time how much it affected her until years later when she phoned me one evening in floods of tears about it. She said that the baby girl had haunted her her whole life, even though she had subsequently got married and had other children. Thankfully the first thing that my unseen neice did when she was allowed to at the age of 18 was contact her mother (my sister), so some kind of closure was reached.

The trouble is with your "reasoning" is that it never takes account of the ebb and flow of real life. It's all so reasonable but never very realistic.
