Little Man Tate lay into fellow Sheffield bands

Band tell NME.COM they're 'surprised' more didn't play flood benefit

Little Man Tate have admitted they were surprised by the reaction of Sheffield bands in the aftermath of the city's recent flooding problems.

The group played a fund-raising gig for the victims of the recent severe weather in the city at the Plug venue on Saturday (August 4).

Speaking about the event, singer Jon Windle told NME.COM: "I was surprised that more Sheffield bands weren't playing. I think there were people who have more power in the industry could have done something, but I guess they were too busy or something."

Windle also revealed that the band were working on songs for the follow up to their debut album 'About What You Know', which came out earlier this year.

He said: "We've started demoing the new songs, so hopefully we'll be able to play some of them. We played three already - 'What Your Boyfriend Said', 'Boy In The Anorak' and 'A Time For Anything'. So we might be able to play them.

"The songwriting has moved on a bit. It's hard to write about the same things again. Musically it's more mature. Lyrically it's less giddy. When we wrote (the songs on their debut) we didn't really think it would go on an album, I think that with these ones we want people to talk about us as a good band. We don't want to disappear. We don't want to appear gimmicky. We want to prove that we're a proper band."

The band are set to play a big show at Blackpool's Empress Ballroom on December 15.

I agree, if they're hinting at the fact Arctic Monkeys didn't play.

It's probably for the best they didn't play too as it would have been very hectic had they played.

WHO?

Meh to them, jealously involved me thinks.

LMAO! They have no right to take a swipe at ANYONE  Believe me I've had to see them live, they're the worst band ever

Their lyrics are like an Arctic Monkeys pisstake -_-

"It's winner stays on the Sony Playstation"

"Talked to some kid who couldn't be much gayer" (What's that supposed to mean? )

I know what you mean Nicky.

Little Man Tate are one of the worst bands about, and they're a perfect example of generic indie. They have nothing that makes them sound out, and on the whole they're just a very forgetful band.

Oh lord, Little Man Tate are alright imo, but this is just a stupid thing for them to say tbh. I guess it's no surprise they have a new single out in 2 weeks time? :teresa:
I'll go with Jarvis' summing up of LMT - 'a pile of sh*t'. Do you know in a previous incarnation they supported Samantha Mumba and Gareth Gates and were a covers band? Chancers, frankly.

Wasn't it 'they are f*cking sh*t' he said? or was that someone else?
