New cover of old classic Bollywood song:

It's out on Monday 13th August - the video is doing really well on YouTube at the moment, 80000 views in less than 24 hours.

I really like it.

its a cover? mind you i know f all about bollywood!

sound VERY 1976/7 euro disco, abit of space (magic fly) in there, a bit of andrea true connection, she sounds like noosha fox speeded up... (as in foxx mid 70's pop group).

not sure wether i like it or not... i think it might grate on me after a while as i wasnt a fan of euro disco in the 70's and im not really now.

This is just cheesy old "Disco" c**p tbh.... Another symptom of everything that is wrong with today's current Dance music scene.... Hard to believe this was a musical form/movement which prided itself on its whole "anti-nostalgia" stance, now it's just ripping off Disco beats and old Bollywood movies for its "inspiration"....

If you guys want to hear some real Eastern flavour in Dance, I direct you all to Transglobal Underground and Loop Guru, even Basement Jaxx have done this sort of thing better....

This is hardly dance tbh. I do like it though. :D

There is already a thread on this, in the Culture Box.

This is in no way, DANCE  Its a Bollywood/Baile Funk.

Every single song of hers is totally different, this is the only Bollywood esque she has.

duno what "bollywood/baile funk" is, never heard that term before, all i know is that in its production it is disco, which i suppose was the forerunner to 'dance'... it was the dance of the 70's.. this track could have been released in '76, its straight out of europe c '76.

The Movie is indeed a Bollywood one.

That explains Baile Funk. It is quite Dancy music, but usually has World/Cultural influences.

i see, thanks :)

as it says, its related to 70's funk. im not sure where the boundaries between 'funk' and 'disco' lie. this track though has very strong overtones of mid 70's disco . the beat, the synthetic strings, sounds like 'sunny' (boney m), 'get up and boogie' (silver convention) or even abit of 'magic fly' (space)

Erm, I actually quite like this! It's so delicously, urm, corney?

Isn't this just basically Boney M, but with a bit of Bollywood thrown in the mix and it's considered cool?

This song maybe, it's not much like the rest of her material though

I'm sort-of aware who MIA is, I did hear one of her tracks from a couple of years ago... but I thought it was absolutely awful!

That would be Galang. It's a love/hate song. To some it's just a racket, and even though I do like it, I can see their point if they're not into that sort of music. :heehee:

And Jimmy still isn't what I would call dance... but then I wasn't around in the 70s so I'm not all too familiar with a majority of disco-dance songs from that era.

'dance' didnt exist in the 70's, dance music was 'disco'. disco was the first music genre that was specific and exclusive to dance too.
