Wasn't sure where to post this so mods please move it if in the wrong place.

Last Night this was posted on Digital Spy by Ant's Auntie:

Hi everyone,

Anthony has asked me to post this to all of you so you'll all know what the current situation is.

As of Sunday 12th August 2007, Anthony has made the decision to leave Eton Road. Although this hasn't been an easy choice for him to make, Anthony feels that it's best for everyone concerned. He was willing to honour his commitments in terms of the remaining gigs booked until the end of this year, but the general consensus was that this would in fact be more difficult for all concerned than if he were to leave immediately; therefore Anthony won't be appearing at any of the upcoming gigs. He wishes the other boys the best of luck in whatever they choose to do in the future.

Anthony has also asked me to say to all of you who have in so many ways supported and believed in him that your encouragement and kindness has meant such a lot to him. He hopes to be seeing all of you in the very near future, and that you can all appreciate and accept his decision. You have all made the past year the most wonderful journey for him and he wouldn't have missed any of it for the world.

The reason for this not being announced yesterday is that Anthony was in talks with management until late this evening, and so wasn't free to speak about this until now.

Please feel free to post this announcment on any other Eton Road forums that you think would want to hear about it.

Warm regards

Anthony's aunt Sue.x

I liked these guys, it's a shame, but with no deal on offer, I suppose it was inevitable.

Anthony was the one who seemed to get noticed so maybe he's had a solo offer.

was he the freakishly skinny guy who had the high pitched voice?

Isn't Louis (barf!) Walsh their manager?

Imo this has been on the cards from the beginning. The boys have been worked like dogs since they were voted off X Factor. Performing week after week all over the country (and I bet they've hardly made a penny out of it) just to give Anthony the experience and confidence to go it alone. The group were promised a recording contract and were expecting to release a single in September and that's not going to happen now. I feel sorry for the other boys because they've been deceived into thinking they had a future. If my theory is correct and Anthony has had any part in the deception then he should hang his head in shame.

I think they were put together solely to enter XFactor, they're all friends from the local dance school aren't they?

Louis went public on XFactor, promising them a contract, but the minute the cameras were off, it seemed, he welshed on the deal (Typical of the little $h!te  ) I think they've all worked hard to get somewhere, but it wasn't working. I don't think anyone can blame Anthony, it's a dog eat dog World in that industry and as I said earlier. it wasn't as though they'd been together for years before the show, so any one of them might have a better chance as a solo act.

, it's a dog eat dog World in that industry .

That is so true. Loyalty and integrity seem to be dirty words in the music business.

The success went to his head then...?

Exactly. He was the worst one as well, he blatantly tried NOT to harmonise with the others so he would standout more, and in their final week in X Factor he was beyond cringeworthy because he tried far too hard to stand out and it just came out like someone had been kicked in the balls. I hope he goes solo just for the fact that I love to see the one who thinks he's the best fail.

he failed to sing in tune at most of their performances - his histrionic show-off falsetto always let down the band (and they were pretty awful anyway). He was like an even more camp Justin Hawkins with that squealing horror of a vocal each week.

Still, maybe this will free up his time to sort out that sex change he so obviously needs <_<

I'm sure the world is mourning at this news.

I still can't believe once that to get into this club in town, I had to pay EXTRA on the entrance fee just because this X-Factor reject band were playing that I didn't even want to see anyway. We didn't stay long enough to catch them, thankfully. ^_^

On The X Factor Live Shows I thought Eton Road were great and were very talented especially Anthony however what has since happened to them has been a great shame and I can only presume that he is going solo though this will obviously mean the split of the group I'm sure.
well Louis obviously lost interest with his new toy as they weren't Irish - shame that

or they didn't sit on stools, or wernt willing to give him sexual favours in return for a record deal.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just read something about them today.

Last year's X Factor stars Eton Road have hit out at their old mentor Louis Walsh - for not keeping his promise to get the group a record deal.

The music mogul vowed that he would help the singers to become huge stars when they were eliminated from the talent competition in 2006, but he has failed to deliver on his promise.

"We've been left high and dry because Louis didn't keep his word," band member James Edwards told the Daily Star. "We're very upset. It gives false hope to people on the show."

He added: "Millions of people heard Louis say he'd get us a record deal and nothing has happened. It's very embarrassing as everyone's asking if we're now signed - and we're not. I'd hate for anyone on this year's show to be told they'll get a record deal and then spend months hanging around with false hopes. It's soul destroying."

Anthony Hannah, 18, decided to quit the group earlier this month because he wants to pursue a solo career.

An X Factor spokeswoman explained that Eton Road signed up to a management company after being voted off last year, making it difficult for Louis to control the group.

I'm not a fan, but I think that's really f*cked up.
