I full expect this thread to get no attention for 2 reasons 1) she sings in French 2) she's like nothing in the UK music scene.

Yelle combines electro-pop with Hip-Hop to form some rather fun songs both lyrically and musically. Her out album "Pop-Up" is out in France next month.

First single "Je Veux te Voir" formally known as "Short Dick Cuizi";;

And the current single "À Cause des Garçons" [because of the Boys];;

Just goes to prove you don't need to sing in English to actually produce something that is catchy-good-fun-pop-music :D

maybe on buzzjack, well its not Beyonce singing in Spanish and everyone has just gone mad on Robyn about a year after the style press did (we wont mention Cherion at this moment) but the style press have probs got their hands full with Uffie/Justice and the indie press with Malajube and the teenagers. there's only so much stuff/that can be highlighted and so many french/french speaking acts acts that can be celebrated away from a this is whats happening in paris, this is whats in Montreal.

I love Uffie, I just wish Yelle got more attenion.

There's something about Uffie which annoys me she's a bratty American engrossed in a scene which is ever-so-slightly style over substance. [As is the case with much of the Ed Banger crew]

Yelle the girl from a small town in Brittany is well nothing there :(

I've never heard of Les Inrocks before :o

À Cause des Garçons :wub:

FABBO Stuff! :D

yeah but thats what 'the style council' have decided to focus on and that what they will be obsessed with until it hits the mainstreem (see robyn and probs now Bonde do Role seeing their sync deal) and then thay will be onto another scene in another country from paris to sao Paulo to berlin and then tokio and back again etc etc

OMFG I'm going to see her end of February. Proper gig of her own in London and everything o; wubub

Yelle is amazing!

Furrealz, I loved her stuff, girl needs to get her ass up here <3

Je Veux Te Voir = awesome to play super loud when driving fast D:

I thought her album was already out though? I mean i've had the mp3's and official remixes for months? x:

I like some of her remixes... but that's about it. Her songs are catchy though.

Yelle is a goddess omgah.

I wanted to try and translate Je Veux Te Voir in my french class, but Madame Bowen would not approve. :(

She's been #1 in France for soooo many weeks now, thanks to her featuring on Fatal Bazooka last hit "Parle a ma main" :lol:

I saw Yelle at the Knitting Factory in New York and a few days later at the Old Blue Last in London. Was superb both times.

I believe she is now with a UK/USA deal and has just shot a new video for "Je Veux Te Voir"...

The new video for "Je Veux te Voir". All copies of the old video have been deleted. Evidently her rec label is no so keen on anyone knowing/remembering Yelle once existed with long hair.

Also she's MTV's 'artist of the week', whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean :S "A Cause Des Garçons" is the lead single in the USA. The album is released 1st April.

What a fabulous video! :heehee: Not too keen on the song though.
The backing track sounds like that song from 20 Fingers from the 90s. Artist Of The Week means she's Buzzworthy, so her video will get great exposure on MTV during that week.
Listened to clips from her album when this thread first surfaced, it's actually very good! Inanely catchy even if it doesn't make any sense.
