The Hits have been having a Pete Waterman day, the Überlord of Commercial dance, a man whos brought the sounds of the homosexual Hi-energy, house and disco scenes to the masses, a man who's 'world of pop' seems to limited to an Italian Discothèque circa 1972

however what are the best Pete Waterman - S/A/W - PWL records ever???

(and yes i know its commercial dance, and who else's dance (dissco) sounds is more commecial

btw at least he annoyed some Rare Groove acid jazz fans with roadblock so thats at least one cool plus point for him and at least he's not DJ Sammy  )

note: PWL it was the proto-AATW. totally

95% of his hits are/were total, complete and utter tripe.

id suggest that dead or alives 'you spin me round (like a record)' was possibly the best, as it was one of the first. nearly everything else afterwards was just repetitive c**p that had no soul, no emotion, no feeling, just karaoke artists poorly singing (miming) over that one backing track.

i must admit, hes a genius, selling the same product time and time again to the same audience (which then in the late 80's were kids, especially girls).

I liked the early Kylie stuff - "I should be so lucky" is still my fave Kylie song

Did S/A/W produce Rick Astley too ? I loved "never gonna give you up"

Maybe "Better the devil you know" or "What do I have to do" by Kylie
I'm more than aware the SAW sound was uninspiring, manufactured and pre-programmed to buggery, but I have a major soft spot for a lot of their stuff purely because of the sheer innocence of it all. I think SAW knew exactly what they were, and so did the pop stars that fronted their sound. Pure unpretentious pop... certainly not like how it is these days...

i had already been a 'real' music lover for over 20 years by '88, so their 'innocent, manufactured' sounds were by and large detested by me and my generation.

unpretencious pop, not like it is these days?.... c'mon, 'pop' these days is a result of the past and S/A/W influence in 'pop' can still be seen, besides i dont think its any worse today then it ever has been. pop groups have always had an air of pretenciousness about them as pop groups have always relied on image.

Divine - You Think You're a Man

Bananarama - I Heard A Rumour

Bananarama - Venus

Bananarama - Love in the First Degree

Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round

I see it from both sides Mushy... but I ask myself this question...

Who would I rather listen to? 50 Cent.... or Sonia???

OK, it's me, I am officialy a FREAK!!!

yeah that was on that show as well.

actually i guess thats probs the kinda club sounds that all the smooth radio presents would have gone clubbing to year's ago. bet it was like hardcore to them

btw this is Safri Duo's Sweet Freedom  not that far away in concept

actually...... 50 cent for me.... just. i hate sonia.

Pretty much ANY Mel and Kim record.

Early Kylie "I should Be So Lucky" and "Got To Be Certain" in paticular, and all the songs from that album really.

"Never Wanna Give You Up" "Take Me To Your Heart" (Rick Astley)

"You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) (dead or alive)

"More Than Physical" (Bananarama)

"You'll never Stop Me From Loving you" (sonia)

"I'd Rather Jack" The Reynolds Girls(the lyrics are dumb as idk what but I love the production and arrangement of this)

"Love Reaction" (Divine)

"This Time I Know its For Real" (Donna Summer)

and plenty of others, knowing me I will add them to this list later on.. but you all catch my drift.
