Euro 2008 qualifying

Northern Ireland v Liechtenstein

Northern Ireland could go second in their group tonight if they beat Liechtenstein, who have so far only won a single of their 7 matches. Northern Ireland under new manager Nigel Worthington will be looking to capitalise on their good start and game in hand and put them selves back in an automatic qualification place. Liechtenstein will be looking to cause an upset against the Irish to increase their slim chances of qualification.

International Friendly

England v Germany

The last time these two met at Wembley the German’s were 1-0 winners. Both teams are struggling with injuries for this friendly, but the English seam to be having a lot more publicised troubles. Although this is billed as friendly it will be anything but. Should the English lose this match there is sure to be calls for Steve McClaren’s head in the media, if they win, he will be a national hero in the media until the matches at home to Israel and Russia.

Scotland V South Africa

Scotland face World Cup 2010 hosts South Africa in a friendly at Aberdeen’s stadium. The Scottish side has surprised many during euro 2008 qualifying currently lie third in the table after a surprise victory over France. The Scots will be looking for a good victory over South Africa to prepare them for crucial qualifiers in France and at home the Ukraine and the visit to Georgia and the visit of Italy before the end of 2007. South Africa will want to win over a team that many would consider has little chance of being in the next world cup, to show they can host it and deserve to be in it.

Bulgaria v Wales

The Welsh side faces a trip to Bulgaria for their friendly match. The Welsh only have a small chance of qualifying for Euro 2008, they are currently 7 points behind the 2nd place Czech Republic. Bulgaria are currently 2nd in Group G and will be looking for a win over Wales ahead of matches against The Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Other Euro 2008 Qualifying

Armenia v Portugal, Group A, 17:00

Belgium v Serbia, Group A, 19:45

Estonia v Andorra, Group E, 17:00

Finland v Kazakhstan, Group A, 17:00

Cue an England defeat and calls of Steve McClaren as worst England manager ever ...

and calls to make Sven the England manager :kink:

I hope Northern Ireland can win tonight. Aside from England they look to be the British side with the most hope of qualifying. I don't hold much hope for Scotland with Italy, France and Ukraine in their group. :smoke:

and germany equalise as Northen Ireland increase their lead to 2-0 over Liechtenstein and the Republic Of Ireland have also doubled their lead to 4-0 over Denmark

England have been promising this half and we don't deserve to be losing, but hey that's the way the cookie crumbles. :magic:

Owen looks rusty, and he missed an absolute sitter that Lehman gifted him, but I guess you can out that down to him hardly playing. We don't really have the best luck with goalkeepers either do we? :( Robinson's looked poor tonight, and he's not been in the best of form for Spurs either so far this season...

First time analysis by me

Bright start by England in the first 20 minutes, First goal by Germany Robinson made a clumsy mistake, second goal by Germany was a cracker of a goal have to give them credit for that, and Michael Owen had 2 unlucky attempts at goal, overall in my opinion a very dismal performance against a weak Germany team, when they have several key members unfit for the match.

Bring on David James for the second half, I think Robinson has heard his day as England Goalkeeper.

David James is coming on for the second half, instead of Paul Robinson, thank god for that

... England playing very well especially Micah Richards & Joe Cole, but are losing.

David Beckham's ankle injury is clearly affecting his performance, get Shaun Wright-Phillips on for the start of the second half.

Frank Lampard playing well (for once), further proof you can't have an England XI with both Gerrard & Lampard playing in it.

Stefan Dennis's fictional character (of the same name) in Neighbours would have done a better job in goal than the Tottenham goalkeeper has in the first half.

Second half Analysis by me in one easy word = DISMAL

But it was a friendly match, the real test will be against Israel and Russia, if they lose, I reckon Steve McClaren will walk, problem is who will take the England job on, Mickey Mouse

The 2nd half was just nothing really, England were rubbish, and we should have won that game if players had of put away their chances, but hey, that's football. It's only a friendly at the end of the day, and out squad was pretty depleted, but so was Germany's. The next set of qualifiers shall be very interesting though.

But I just don't think our squad on the whole is that good. :( We've not that many youngesters coming through, or ones that play for the Big 4 at least.

A good night for the everyone but England tonight. Northen Ireland 3-1 winners over Liechtenstein to go second in their group. The Republic of Ireland won 4-0 in Denmark. The Welsh won 1-0 in Bulgaria. Scotland second best much of the match but still beat South Africa 1-0.

Paul Robinson destroyed England's performance literally single handed.

After that goal went in the whole team's heads dropped, confidence was lost in the keeper, and they just looked totally disinterested in playing. Anyone who says they played well after 20 minutes needs their eyes testing.

Shaun Wright-Phillips should of got a bit more time as he did alright when he came on, once he has the confidence he is brilliant down the wings and has showed this so far this season for Chelsea.
I must admit Owen missed a golden opportunity, he should have gone to specsavers before the game, I didn't think he was fit for the match
