Hideaki Tokunaga's "Vocalist 3" claims a second week at No.1. The success of this album has also pulled it's predecessors back up the chart. "Vocalist" ends the week at No.13 (total sales 399,743) and "Vocalist 2" is at No.16 (total sales 334,528). At No.2, Sukima Switch's "Greatest Hits" offering passes the half-million mark after 4 weeks on the chart.

New Releases - Singles

Utada Hikaru - Beautiful World / Kiss & Cry

L'Arc~en~Ciel - My Heart Draws A Dream

EXILE - Toki no Kakera / 24karats -type EX-

Park Youg Ha - Eien

Nanamusica - Kanata

Even though the NINKI is calling this one for Hikki, I'm inclined to think next week's singles chart battle is still too close to call with any certainty.

New Releases - Albums

Ketsumeishi - Ketsunopolice 5

Porno Graffitti - Porno Graffitti

Yanawaraba - Uta Gusui

Hip-hop influenced vocal group Ketsumeishi release their 5th album and go head to head with rock duo Porno Graffitti who release their 7th.

I was rooting for Aiko this week :( I also wish buriguri could have got higher, although it's been up and down between 8-11 through the week. Any idea where 'FREE FREE' ended up? Im really looking forward to this weeks singles chart, Hikki, L'arc & Exile all have a chance, although Exile will probably have to settle for #3, the other two NINKI numbers are so close. Personally, i wouldn't be surprised if Hikki starts off around 2-3 but climbs to #1 during the week, since her promo for BW/K&C kicks in around Friday. The label really screwed up in releasing K&C so early on downloads, and it seems Japan isn't too impressed with BW. Did you know that she can only perform K&C on one show because she mentions a noodle brand :lol: Also hoping Ayaya can get top 10 with 'Egao'

I have to admit, the 'Vocalist 3' album isn't that bad :lol: and weren't the other to in the top 20 last week also? [or mabye top 40, im sure I remember seeing them.] On another note, im still waiting for 'PLAY' to reach 500K :lol:

Ami finished the week at 32. Looks like "FREE FREE" sold just under 6k. Even that is a better showing than the three colaboration singles that were released in advance of "CONNETTA".

I conferss I find this weeks charts a tad dull. There is plenty of action in the singles chart, but nothing much that appeals to me at a personal level. The album chart is moribund, still suffering under the influence of the holiday season.

Some brighter spots: One of may favourite singers, Eiko Shimamiya, has taken the No.12 spot on the singles chart. Given "Naraku no Hana" has no video and has had no promotion other than being used as an anime theme, that seems a fairly good result. On the album chart, Chiaki Ishikawa takes No.28 with what I think is one of the best albums of the year.

It seems Namie's sales have taken something of a tumble this week. She's down at No.44 which implies it may still be 3, perhaps 4 weeks before "PLAY" reaches the half-million. I shall be interested to see tomorrows daily figures. I really don't know if Hikki can pull this one off. The NINKI has a bad habit of over-estimating the potential of singles from high profile artists. The Yahoo straw-poll is telling a different story.

How much did her other collaborations sell? being honest, ''CONNETTA'' is dreadful album. It was obviously meant to bring back her sony fans, but not only failed that, but seemed to lose her fans that ATW brought her. I wonder what she'll do next.. I'm really hoping Hikki can pull it off, BW/K&C is my favourite single of the year, plus it would really solidify her comeback. then again even if she doesn't reach #1, I think she'll be the winner with overall sales. Do you think either could reach 150-200K in first weeks?

''Vocalist 3'' only got something like 83 points on NINKI, and that ended up beating ZARD, which had around 110 each respectively. In my opinion the single releases atm are quite good, and there are lots of good releases ahead. the final 3 weeks of September has kinki kids, Ayu, Kuu-chan and BoA. the album chart though atm is quite dull, but September should be good, personally im looking forward to Ai Otsuka's ''LOVE PiECE'' and Goto Makis ''How to use SEXY''

Oh - I need to show some love for Mika Nakashima @ #3 with ''Life'' :wub:

maybe talkin' 2 meself will fare better? it's a much much better song.

I love 'talkin' 2 myself' good old rock ayu :lol:

Hikki starts the week at #3 on daily with 23K :o [owch] L'arc already sold 44K

How much did her other collaborations sell?
  • 2007-03-07:鈴木亜美 joins Buffalo Daughter : 47
  • 2007-03-14:鈴木亜美 joins THC!! : 46 (first week - 2,892)
  • 2007-03-21:鈴木亜美 joins キリンジ : 39 (first week - 2,790)
Can't find the figure for the first one.

It was obviously meant to bring back her sony fans, but not only failed that, but seemed to lose her fans that ATW brought her.
I'm still not sure what the 'objective' of CONNETTA was, but I certainly agree that it a) did not succeed and b) seriously pissed-off her new Avex fanbase. I'm inclined to wonder if Ami may have had some personal input into the 're-think' that led to "CONNETTA". She had spent all her life doing what record labels told her to do - I'm sure that's true of "Around the World" as well, since it was her chance to get back into the music business. But it seems that Max Matsuura is personally managing Ami (as he does with Ayu) which must put her in a stronger position than some other Avex artists. I wouldn't label "CONNETTA" as 'dreadful' (except for track 04, which is dreadful). It's a completely different sort of exercise to "Around the World" and it's not easy to make a meaningful comparison of the two albums. Whatever. "CONNETTA" is history now and "FREE FREE" is the first step towards her third Avex album. We'll just have to wait and see how things develop.

I wasn't expecting to see EXILE ahead of Hikki on the daily.

Keisuke Kuwata's "Kaze No Uta Wo Kikasete" is 23rd consecutive #1 song with only one week at the top. The last number one with more than 1 week at the top was Hikaru Utada's "Flavor Of Life". Her new single "Beautiful World/Kiss & Cry" will be on the next chart...

Did Ami really take more control over 'CONNETTA?' I always assumed it was Matsuura, although if she did it makes sense. Avex goes for dance music, Ami goes for normal pop which doesn't work, so Avex get her back out with another dance song. I suppose dreadful is too strong a description of it, but I just find it very dull :( Then again i've never been a fan of her sony works either.

Singles:

xx->01->01 - L'Arc~en~Ciel - 25710 + 17169 (x1.7) = 72,894

xx->02->02 - EXILE - 20857 + 14963 (x1.7) = 60,894

xx->03->03 - Utada Hikaru - 13290 + 11691 (x1.7) = 42,468

Hikki with not much of a drop at all, I'm thinking she can take second now. Ketsumeishi has already sold nearly 250K in albums :o
