May 4, 200619 yr Hmm, I feel sorry for people who are willing to buy the same record 13 times to send it to number one.
May 4, 200619 yr Author Westlife are the worst guys, rubbish in their work that's why they are 8 years together. You are all jealous!!!!!! 13 UK No.1's!! And they all sound exactly the same !! Yes. so what? mariah has about 92 number ones in the states, and phil collins has been going since the days of the dinosaurs
May 4, 200619 yr How could I forget Worstlife and Diarrhea Carey's awful cover of a song written by the most boring bald Tory before William Hague. Truly that is a match made in Hell. Yeah, that is probably the worst collaboration ever. Let's hope the five cardboard cut-outs and the squealing old pig never try to do another duet. Edited May 4, 200619 yr by ghostwriter

May 7, 200619 yr Mariah Carey and Westlife surely? One pointless, arrogant primadonna and five wet fishes. ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 7, 200619 yr Westlife are the worst guys, rubbish in their work that's why they are 8 years together. You are all jealous!!!!!! 13 UK No.1's!! And they all sound exactly the same !! Yes. Well said... Westlife ARE rubbish - spot on, Charisma
May 7, 200619 yr Yeah, that one really is terrible. There's also Victoria Beckham with that bloke from Another Level and some long forgotten garage/dance act doing Out Of Your Mind. Westlife and Mariah! Britney and Madonna makes me cringe with embarassment for both everytime I see it. Mariah Carey and Westlife surely? One pointless, arrogant primadonna and five wet fishes. Westlife and Mariah Carey! Two of my least favourite artists collaborating for one song... joy. Ach come on...Mariah Carey singing an awful Phil Collins record? Westlife or not it's a travesty. U2 & Mary J Blige Westlife and Mariah so what? mariah has about 92 number ones in the states, and phil collins has been going since the days of the dinosaurs  How could I forget Worstlife and Diarrhea Carey's awful cover of a song written by the most boring bald Tory before William Hague. ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now is Mariah arrogant because she is extremely successful I wonder? Against All Odds was a hit almost everywhere, with or without Westlife. Do people hate Mariah because she is a trillion times more successful than their favourite artists are? Some of the rockier groups? Some of the indie perhaps? Even Goldfrapp maybe. Mariah has had 17 US #1's, she is one of the biggest selling female in the world EVER, deal with it.
May 7, 200619 yr That's not the case at all for me, I'm afraid. I know Mariah has sold truck loads more than say, Kylie, but success doesn't influence anything for me. ^_^
May 7, 200619 yr I dislike Mariah Carey because she's staid, boring, safe, bland, naff and ordinary - all the things you need to have 17 US number ones, obviously. Mass consumption means absolutely nothing... nothing at all. When you look at REAL out-there originality and talent (ok...early Goldfrapp for one)....then you realise what a middle-of-the-road option Pariah is. Alison Goldfrapp has more sex appeal, style and charisma in her toenail than Scarey has in her whole body. Plus, of course, Alison doesn't do covers of Phil Collins and Nilsson songs. She writes her own stuff. For anyone looking for fabulous female singers - why oh why settle with the safe option? There's hundreds of far better singers out there - the difference is, these hundreds didn't shag the head of Sony Records for worldwide publicity.... still...she's got one thing Ms Goldfrapp hasn't.... breasts like spaniel's ears.... they come out at any opportunity, too...ewww... just minggggginggg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v679/russy68/scary.gif Edited May 7, 200619 yr by russt68

Yes Tommy Mottolla - the man who rejected signing the wonderfully talented Eva Cassidy when she was alive. I certainly know who most people would regard as the better singer between Eva & Mariah, but sadly the 1990s was more about having the right look & image than about talent. It's a sad fact but if Kirsty MacColl & Alison Moyet were up & coming singers in the 1990s (instead of the 1980s) then there is no way they would have got signed to a major record label.
May 7, 200619 yr Author Yes Tommy Mottolla - the man who rejected signing the wonderfully talented Eva Cassidy when she was alive. however why hasnt this Mrs Mottolla been as mega successful as Mariah? ThalÃÂa Sodi, she is better looking and much more sexy? dont you think? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/94/Thalia1.jpg oh and maybe you could say that for his other protoge Lindsay Lohan (then again you could argue that the music is only a side line, other could argue that the free video on herbie fully loaded is better than the film  ) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ee/Lindsay_Lohan_-_Vanity_Fair.jpg

May 7, 200619 yr but in 2006 they would have taken over the charts (Alison Moyet's last album was a top tenner, and i suppose if she did more commercial stuff people would be as sick as her as other ac folks probably?) I think Moyet wipes the floor with every other female vocalist... and she herself says she wouldn't have had a contract in this present climate. What I love about her is her staunch refusal to compromise... even when Sony kept her career on hold for most of the 90s by refusing to release the music she was giving them. What sweet revenge it must have been that the album they refused... 'Hometime' (an absolute MUST) was picked up by Sanctuary, and was the best album she'd ever made (produced by the Insects of Massive Attack fame, and featuring Adrian Utley of Portishead), it went top 20, spawned 2 sell-out tours and brought her voice back to the public's affection. I saw her in the Smaller play in February....and the songs she's written for that... oh wow... the 3 of them sound like modern standards.... a helluva songwriter as well as our finest voice.
May 7, 200619 yr Author :o No way, more like one of the best :P is the person who nominated it a u2 fan who doesnt like r&b?

T-Rex might know. Yeah Mariahs album was #1 well before her and Tommy came out, so check that one again love. You're right Alison does not do Nilsson and Phil Collins covers, maybe that's why she's not even 1/10 as successful as Mariah maybe? And would you still be saying the same thing about US #1's if Mariah had 0 and Goldfrapp had 17? I don't think so. And are you really meant to be an adult? Trying to make up stupid names for her? That is so immature and pathetic, not the first time you've done it either.
May 7, 200619 yr So because Kelly happens to like Mariah Carey that means that she can't bothered to find 'better' female singers? I'm not Mariah's biggest fan but I see why some people like her and they're settling for any 'safe' option it's their opinion.
