Posted September 1, 200717 yr lol, inspired by 'twinkle' being mentioned... what are your favourite 'death discs'? the 60's were obsessed with them... 'tell laura i love her'... for eg.. over to you!
September 1, 200717 yr Apart from the other two I mentioned on the other thread (Leader Of The Pack, Johnny Remember Me) the one that immediately springs to mind is "Endless Sleep" by Jody Reynolds except, of course, she doesn't drown in the end. The impression, because the lyrics are in the past tense, is that she's gone into the sea and drowned herself but, rather disappointingly, our narrator rescues her in the last verse! Then there's Elvis's classic "Old Shep". Do dogs count?
September 1, 200717 yr Anyone remember a song called "Shannon"? It was by a beardy American called Henry Gross. It reached #32 in August 1976. Got lots of radio play. Another death disc about a dog, who swam out to sea and didn't return.
September 1, 200717 yr For some reason, I'm thinking 'It's a Mistake' by Men At Work deals with death, on a larger scale...maybe I'm mistaken....

The song I refer to here, the girlfriend is killed by her father, accidentally, as the father was aiming for the boyfriend, Joey, in this instance, and, the girl stepped in the line of fire....and this was released in the mid-1970's, about '75, I think
