We have various threads about the new album, including the Guy re-union one, duets with JT etc etc, but we need an official thread :smoke:

Some news from rw.world.com, via PR,

After several months of speculation, it seems that there will not be a new album in 2007. Indeed, according to highly reliable sources', there will be no Swing album, and no album will leave in 2007. On the other hand, certain rumours imply that the new pop album could leave in February, but for the moment, EMI would not have decided anything for the time being concerning this album. A thing is sure: no the album in 2007.

and From Laura Critchley's MySpace (she's a singer who toured with the Sugababes):

We finally got to Saturday which was the only day I’d put aside for doing some USA shopping so I arrived at the shopping mall and within minutes of me scouting around my first shop I receive a call from… Robbie Williams… he knew I was in town and was calling to ask me if I’d like to record some vocals on his new album…I’m sorry girls but shopping had to come second on this instance!

So I recorded some of my vocals on three of his tracks that night (which were amazing by the way) and had a great Saturday night chilling with him and the guys from the Studio (and his gorgeous dogs!) Recording for Rob was an amazing experience as he’s been an inspiration to me for a very long time…not that I still have my Take That posters up or anything! ( I just haven’t got round to decorating yet!)

And Steve Power produced Laura's album, so could this mean he could be working with Rob on something as well? We know Guy is working with Rob on the new album, and hopefully it is a new pop/rock one, and not Swing. Nothing would please me more than an album where each track is completelly different to the last, a mix between Life Thur a Lens, IC and Rudebox

I sincerly hope a Feb 2008 release are true. Reasons being: ^_^

1) He should not release an album this year, it is far too soon. I think the public have to really miss him, obviously fans do, but people in general need longer to get over the whole 'rudebox was a disaster' thing, and all the endless media negetivity. He has been going non-stop for 10 years with an album each and every year, it is about time he had a proper break and there could'nt be a more perfect time imo.

2) The whole 'in the shops at Christmas" thing is really starting to get boring imo, it is becoming like a formula, and far to predictable, something like Westlife do, and Rob certainly is'nt preditcable so it would be really nice to see an album released early or mid into a year for a change.

3) It seems like only yesterday 'Rudebox' was released, this past 12 months have gone unbelievably fast, and I really miss the anticipation of a new Robbie album/song. Like IC came out, we had'nt had a new album of original songs in 3 years, and it was so exciting. So actually, I think even Feb might be too early, the summer would be better imo, and he could come back with a huge pop anthem that would be a summer smash hit hopefully.

4) A Feb 08 release would surely mean he and EMI have changed their mind on a second Swing album, because Swing would almost definatly be released at Xmas time, as it is that type of music, certainly not for summer time. That means an album of original material thankfully, and Rob will hopefully promote it, whilst if a Swing album was released this Xmas I cannot see Rob doing much promo, or EMI for that matter. And besides, I do not want a bloody Swing album, one album of covers is more than enough for a songwriter like Rob, leave the covers to Westlife and people in their 60's like Rod Stewart, and contine releasing brilliant inventive original sounding music of your own Rob please. B)

Feb 08 is a good time to release a new album ^_^ I hope its true :cheer:

I agree with everything you said Scotty. ;)

And Februar 2008 sounds perfect for new album imo, plus no Swing! :yahoo:

Just to be true! :cheer:

Bring on February 2008! :cheer: :cheer:

Anything but Swing would be perfect. It would be absolute insanity to release Swing again imo, the timing could'nt be more wrong, everyone will be saying he is resorting to doing 50 year old covers to revive his apperent flagging carear

I just want him to come back with an amazing pop/rock album and blow everyone away :D

well I liked the swing album a lot,but I agree with you.A pop-rock album would be awesome and I want so much to release one and kick some asses :w00t:

Agreed...another Life Thru A Lens/I've Been Expecting You style album would be fantastic

I completely agree, no swing album and no album this year but February '08 sounds like a weird month to release an album and too early in the year for one imo. I think closer to summer would be better but what do I know

Oh I agree. Feb is too early in the year, summer is better, because then it will hopefully sell very well in the run up to Xmas, whilst if it is released Feb, the hype and promo surrounding it will probebly die down by the end of the year. A single in June and album in July or something would be great. :D

There is ALOT of big releases in the remainder of this year, so releasing a Swing album really would be a bad bad idea. By the time he comes back, people will want to see if he can return with a massive hit, and not bloody Swing, original Swing or not. Hopefully EMI want a normal Robbie album and don't force him to release Swing. -_-

And I agree Ossy, some classic Rob is exactly what I would love. Some great rock type anthems, IC did'nt really have many (apart from APTC), so I would love something like Karma Killer etc. But as I said, an album of all different types of songs would be great. B)

At least he should get to number one releasing it in February. Good luck to him. Hope it is better than Rudebox. Time the old Robbie came back.

Do you think that he has learnt anything from Rudebox....It's a good album but not everyone liked it.......

Does anyone think that he will continue on a similar vein ........

Will he do a complete change....................

Will he do a mixture.........................

I wonder what kind of stuff Rob & Guy have come up with...........

Will work with Brandon Christy & Craig Russo again.....their co-work on The Actor is fab in my opinion.....

Will he write with Jerry Meehan again.....I liked what they did on Rudebox..............

.....believe it or not...I have actually got to really like the single Rudebox & play it a lot....way more than any of the covers on Rudebox....way too many covers for me.........I would have preferred 12 original songs to what we got............

How much influence does his management & his record company have over what type of songs he does & how he promotes them...................

Just questions to ponder ....................

Any ideas.................................

I haven't heard anything about what kind of music he will make on his next album, but I think that he will return to his normals(pop-rock).

Unfortunately,Rudebox was not such a successful album,as you said,so I think that he really needs to do something that it would please him and his funs.So the best thing to do is to be the "old Robbie" with some new details,if you know what I'm saying ^_^

I don't think he'll do a whole album as out there as Rudebox but I also don't think he'll go back to the old Robbie either. I think there will be a combo of sounds and styles.

I wonder if the songs he worked with Guy on are the ones that new girl singer said she recorded vocals for. It would make sense as Steve Power is her producer. I just hope its not some syrupy shmaltzy type of songs. I want some edginess.

I hope we get more collaborations with Jerry Meehan, I loved what they did on Rudebox, I think they make a great writing team. Same for Brandon Christy & Craig Russo. Same for Stephen Duffy. I also hope we don't get any covers or just one atleast. I'm not too keen on covers and I think he topped it on Rudebox.

It definatly won't be the same as Rudebox, Rob is not one to repeat himself, and he has said last year that the next album will be nothing like Rudebox or IC for that matter, so it will be VERY interesting. Actually, I think, seeing how Rob is very competitive he won't want to release something he knows will do badly. Rudebox not doing as well as he usually does (although we all know it did great globally considering everything), was a good thing for Rob, because it would make him more determinded to come back better than everyone and prove to all those idiots that his carear is not flagging or what. ^_^

As for EMI having a say in what type of music. Rob said when he signed the contract that he made all the decisions, and had total control. Yes EMI I'm sure would tell him to not go more different after Rudebox, and since Swing was meant to be part of his contract, they no doubt wanted him to release that to be on the safe side, and I hope what happened was that Rob let them hear loads of amazing original songs he'd written, and they want a new original album instead. Hopefully anyway. :P

I can forgive him for going with so many covers on Rudebox if the album had not been really planned for in the first place.......I just hope that he listens to what his fans say & at least come half way to what they want.....

I agree I would also love a variation of rock & the development of the style that he used in Rudebox which was great on the tracks that you mentioned....

The anticipation is just great & it looks like we will have to wait for some time to get this album...

The RW/GC collab is mighty interesting....wait & see I guess..but it just has to be different from what they did before.....I think Guy is really chomping at the bit & I think that Rob was really the only one that he ever totally clicked with....( I make them sound like they were in love..... :naughty: )..... What did GC say....O'Yeah...' Meeting Rob was like meeting his wife all over again '''...Jeez...that is an emotional statement in itself......sounds a bit weird actually when you think about it..... <_<

How do you get the message accross to Rob though that his fans are not too keen on another Swing album...( send messages on his myspace ).though I believe he said Swing but different...That could just mean about anything....Rob may say & gave away a lot but he is also quite good at not saying anything..' if you get my drift '.......

I really hope he comes up with more rock songs for his new album, and he needs a strong lead single that the radio will go ga-ga over. He has never really done a complete rock album before , but an album filled with songs like Karma Killer, Chemical Devotion, Love Cheat, Cursed...just to name a few...would be absolutely brilliant :w00t: .
A month before Ana's album. :smoke:
Josh I think you missed the thread. :(
