Swing would capture the Christmas market though.

True, yes, but the chances of a Swing album being releasded this Xmas are very slim, and if the Swing is the first of the two albums than it does leave the question of when it will be? Tbh, releasing Swing at any other time apart from Xmas is completely insane. That sort of music is very popular at Xmas and would fly off the shelves, but releasing Swing at the start or middle of next year would make no sence and would be an extremly bad move. After Rudebox under-performing, he needs to come back with something original and promote it hugely, and it will sell massivly again. The return with an album over 50+ year old songs would look desperate and he would get slagged off alot. One covers album is enough, releasing a second already is a bad move.Yes, I realise Swing is in the EMI contract, so it has to be released, but if there is another original album as well part of the contract (which I never knew), then release that first, in the first half of next year, and then Swing in Nov/Dec. ^_^

I am wondering is that ' t***' Neil Sean right after all when he said about an album at the end of this year.....could be.....

I doubt it very much. An artist as big as Rob was releasing an album this year, it would be known at this late stage in the year. Although, even though I don't think releasing an album this year is a good idea, because I think he needs a year off (ie. one where he does not release new material for once) - getting the Swing album out of the way and released for Xmas with some big show on TV like the Albert Hall gig, would be far better than to release it early or mid next year as it is simply not the type of music that sells well other than at Xmas.

I just wish we could get some answers  I hate not knowing what's going on

I saw that diddy Neil Sean on Sky the other day. Has he lost loads of weight or am I imagining things?

I so hope Bodies is a future B-side as I really want to hear the complete version

You and me both, I'd love to hear the whole version. I have a feeling we'll never hear the completed track. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Well he did say it might be a B-side, but you know Rob, he has not be very generous with B-sides these days, despite having hundreds of songs I am sure. If he thought highly of it to post it on the blog, then maybe he will make it a B-side. Fingers crossed :D

What do you recken will happen with the new album(s)? I really want to know what the plan is. Already on other forums, people are slagging Rob off, saying he is so desperate for success again, that he is resporting to using covers, and going by a formula. And this is all before the album has even been announced. I really don't think a Swing album is a good idea, it would really damage his credibility, and would definatly make it seem he is taking a huge step backwards. However, if he releases an original studio album first, then the situation would be totally different. A new album in Feb or mid 2008, with Swing 2 (which will hopefully contain many original songs as well) being released in Nov/Dec. That would be perfect, especially if loads of promo is done (especially for the original album). But releasing a Swing album next, especially at a time that is not towards the end of a year would be a very bad move, and I really hope after the whole Rudebox thing, EMI actually think this time.

LOL Rob going by formula ?! Rudebox was a formula ??

People really should think up of other, more creative ways of slagging him off if that's their goal. If anything Rob is one of VERY few artists that goes against formula and still gets slammed left, right and center, yet the artists that use formula repeatedly on every album are seen as being so prolific

And about resorting to covers .... where exactly is he resorting to covers ?? Lola is a completely different thing and it shouldn't even be considered. Yes there were covers on Rudebox but that whole album was different than anything else, it wasn't done like his usual albums ... how it evolved, how he recorded it, and its sound. He covered those songs because it was songs that he loved and wanted to do. He didn't release any of them, if he had, then I can see an argument being made that he's using covers. I really don't get why people can't just be happy that they got 5 extra songs. Rudebox had about 12 originals which is more than some artists put on an album. You'd think that would be enough but no, with Rob people need to constantly nit pick and have some excuse to complain  I've said it before .... his fans have got very spoiled and don't appreciate what he does. Ungrateful is what the lot of them are.

I hope Swing2 never comes out. There's no need for him to do it. It'll get slagged off regardless if an original comes out first. Yes he can put a fresh angle on it and I'm sure if he'd do it he would but I don't think its necessary. I'd much rather have an original album towards the end of 2008. February I think is way too early. Somewhere round summer would make more sense but with Rob who knows. With Bodies I hope he does't forget about it when the time comes for singles and Bsides. He has a tendency to forget the older songs and they end up not being used.

Well said, I agree. But that's the way it will be seen if he releases it, that he is resorting to covers from back in the 50's because Rudebox did'nt do as well as previous albums. And even if he writes most of the songs himself, they will still say he is using a formula by doing a Swing album as they sell so well, which is ridiculous considering Swing music is not very popular in the UK or on a global scale. Rob's made Swing popular again in the 21st Century, in Europe anyway, and loads of acts have followed since. There are not many Swing albums that have sold over 7m globally I can asure you. How I wish EMI and Rob had've released this second Swing album in 2003 like originally planned. :( <_<
I can see a studio album out next year, then a Swing2 round xmas time, marking the end of his record contract with EMI.

I really really hope so. After Rudebox, he needs to come back with something that will be massive, then get Swing released for Xmas time next year, and hopefully both albums will be multi-million sellers in the UK, to bring his total sales over 20m, and global sales over 60m albums :P

ROBBIE'S GOT THE BLUES

17th October 2007 By Kim Dawson

The Star via TRWS

ROBBIE Williams is singing the blues – and it’s all down to his buddy Mark Ronson.

The super producer has been playing around with a new sound for Bob.

The pair’s last recording session resulted in some sublime electro efforts on Rudebox, an album which many slated but I personally enjoyed.

Now Ronson – whose superb collaboration Valerie with Amy Winehouse, 24, is battling Sugababes’ About You Now for No 1 – is ready to re-invent again.

Mark, 32, told me: “Robbie and I have been talking a lot about his next album and I’ve played him a couple of tracks of mine that he liked.

“One of the tracks had a southern blues/guitar slide on it. Everyone I’ve worked with – from Robbie to Lily Allen and Amy – like to experiment and challenge themselves, which I feed off.

“The songs I’ve re-done need to have a good tempo to do what I do.

“And they have to be delivered by someone who doesn’t pull any punches.”

It’s been a year since Robbie released his last album, which hit the No 1 spot despite criticism.

And there has been plenty of talk circulating about what the Stoke lad will come up with next.

But insiders tell me another collection of big band tunes, like his 2001 album Swing When You’re Winning, is wide of the mark.

My source revealed: “We’re not expecting Robbie to put out another album until the end of next year at the earliest.

“He’s the kind of character who won’t announce what he’s doing – he’ll simply turn up one day with a demo in his hand. Big band songs are not on the agenda, though.”

And don’t expect to see the 33-year-old, who has been spending much of his time playing football in the States with his team LA Vale, popping up to croon with his old Take That bandmates either.

My source said: “Robbie won’t do the tour with Take That.

“He wouldn’t want to look desperate.”

I bet BRITs bosses are gagging to hook them up at the February 2008 show, though…

Ronson, Williams working together again

Wednesday, October 17 2007, 11:29 BST

Digital Spy

By Kimberley Dadds

Mark Ronson has revealed that he has started working with Robbie Williams again on material for his next album.

The DJ, who previously worked with Williams on some of his songs for the Rudebox LP, has visited the singer to work out the sound of his new tracks.

Ronson told Star magazine: "Robbie and I have been talking a lot about his next album and I’ve played him a couple of tracks of mine that he liked. One of the tracks had a southern blues/guitar slide on it.

"Everyone I’ve worked with - from Robbie to Lily Allen and Amy (Winehouse) - like to experiment and challenge themselves, which I feed off.

"The songs I’ve re-done need to have a good tempo to do what I do. And they have to be delivered by someone who doesn’t pull any punches."

Very pleased he is working with Mark again. Something really fresh hopefully. Mark did a great job on Lovelight, he helped turn what I felt was a rather boring song, into an amazing anthem. And Bongo Bong, a song I have always detested, Rob and Mark's cover is actually listenable and has a cool vibe about it. Still not a fave of mine though, but they did the best cover possible of such a dreadful song imo.

Interesting to hear of a more blues type of sound. I love how with Rob, you just never know what sort of music will be next. I am thinking it will be a mixture of all sorts of music, except this time will hopefully have some rock songs, pop anthems, and classic Rob ballads thrown in as well. And I hope their source is correct that there will be no Swing album, and if the album does'nt come out till late next year I have no problem with that. The longer he takes, the better the album will be. :D

Yep, I agree. Would be far better if we have to wait a long time for a new album is being released. There wasn't enough time

inbetween Intensive Care and Rudebox imo. I really hope the new album doesn't contain new rap songs, maybe 1 tops.

I would prefer Ballads and Rock songs but I have to say a southern blues/guitar slide sounds pretty good aswell ^_^

Next album with rock and pop songs, please. ^_^
