80's music. I like all those tracks in a cheesy type of way.

i think this post effectively kills this thread! spot on!

Not sure why everyone hate's Phil Collins? He's a very talented musician and i like his Genesis and Solo stuff

In every single way he is a horrible person from naval gazing c**p lyrics to his whiny voice to his complete lack of style. Everything about him and Genesis from when he took over as leader was bloated and an abomination. And he recorded the worst ever single with the worst ever vocal - Against all Odds. Absolutely vile. :puke2: :puke2: :puke2:

BTW Joey, absolute classic retro name you have there.

nah! lol.. against all odds was a very moving track, ive been in that (his) position and imho this track was written perfectly to express the emotions involved :)

Sorry Mushy, you may empathise with the sentiments of the song but his performance makes me want to vomit whenever I catch the slightest snatch of it. :puke:

it could be worse... it could be mariah careys warbling soul-less yodel that lacks any emotion at all...

His original is a work of God-like genius compared to the horrific Mariah Carey/Westlife collaboration & the Steve Brookstein massacre of the same song.

Just shows how appalling the song is when there have been so many c**p versions of it

dont know why everyone thinks they are so bad, maybe its just like westlife and mcfly, its so fricking easy to do so. well maybe 3 hours straight of all their back cat might be a bit too much (esp when the hits had them on a loop) however better than some of the $h!t they had later on like

Culture Club - karma charmelon

human league - dont you want me baby

lots of power ballad c**p

oh and the thompson twins, dont know what the song was called but was on the best of bmg box and lasted about 2 seconds before i put on scatman john on again

I agree absolutely!

is it because its so totally easy for these people to do without wondering why they hate him?

well i suppose the negativity is valid if you really really really think peter gabriel is a flowerheaded genius and your so totally passionate about his stuff whether it be peter gabriel 1, peter gabriel 4 or ovo

however it could be worst, the man in the pub likes to sneak in a bit of mike and his mechanics from time to time, now thats what i call totally $h!t. worse than phil collins (obv lily collins is much nicer to look at and should be at least as omnipresent as peaches geldof)

anyway isnt phil collins like so respected in the urban music circles? maybe its only a uk negativity thing. a britsh thing

I know exactly why I hate him! Utter Utter $h!te music. Everything that was wrong with music during the middle of the 80s. Corpulant bloated major label bollocks most of which wound up on Live Aid. (PS I am not dissing Live Aid just most of the music that got played that day)
